Hillbilly air filtration system

Went to my brother-in-law's house today. It's a very nice house - about 4500 square feet and maybe 2 years old.

As I walked in the front door, I was amazed to see this (sorry for the bad quality - all I had was my lame camera phone):

What you are looking at is an A/C filter tied to a box fan with a bungee cord. He said he didn't feel like spending the money for some overhyped HEPA system.

We do it with industrial fans at work.

The thing is even though we spray a lot of chemicals, paint and dust around...

It's probably safer than an Office building.

So much stuff that we used to use that is really bad for you has been taken away...

I still love MEK. (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) They took the good stuff. :mad:

my dad drug this contraption out when we were back for vacation. Squirrel cage fan mounted to a board. My sister wrote "redneck air conditioner" on it.
