we have someone moving from Ohio to Amarillo and are trying to educate her.
So there's this thread about Panhandle colloquialisms and hand signs. Here's my contribution:
There's another hand sign you should know about in Texas.
The index and pinkie are extended up and out, and the middle & ring finger curled down with the thumb curled up over them.
This is widely recognized as a sure sign the that the person displaying it is an inbred gutter-dwelling mouth-breathing monosyllabic obnoxious boor, and someone to avoid at all costs.
