NASHVILLE - Van Halen will announce a 50-date American reunion tour with original singer David Lee Roth during a news conference in Hollywood next week, sources said.

The arena trek will begin in early October.

Roth, who split from the rock group in the mid-1980s in hopes of solo stardom, will reunite with co-founders Eddie Van Halen on guitar and brother Alex Van Halen on drums. Eddie’s teenage son Wolfgang will sub for Michael Anthony on bass.

A proposed summer amphitheater tour by the group never got off the ground, with Eddie Van Halen entering a rehabilitation facility for undisclosed reasons in March.

In the months since, the guitarist has been seen publicly looking healthy and fit.

Van Halen last toured in 2004, with Roth’s replacement, vocalist Sammy Hagar, grossing nearly $40 million, according to Billboard Boxscore.

Maybe Eddie had tennis elbow? What happened to Alex? He's still alive, right?

I've seen Van Hagar twice and the abomination that is Cherone once. I've never seen the original VH in concert. If this happens, I may have to go.

DLR might be too cocky (who knows why) to do some of the Sammy era songs and that would be a shame. 5150, OU812, For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge and the other one that slips my mind had some great stuff...especially OU812. Good to hear Eddie got some help...dude was looking 80. Maybe he got on Valerie's diet.

After last time they came to the Ford Center and ended up doing a freaking Toby Keith song joined by none other than Toby Keith, I think I will pass, too. I've never been so disgusted at a concert in my life.

I saw DLR with VH on the Diver Down tour. They put on a mother of a show back then. I doubt DLR does some of the same moves anymore. At least I hope he doesn't.
