Uhmm, religion at work is gauche. Not appropriate at work and especially not appropriate at a private business without permission. IMO.

It's my office, not theirs. Would you like atheist leaflets in your office? (And I'm not atheist, I'm Catholic, but that's not the point.) No one would put up with any other business/service/whatever constantly leaving promotional material in someone else's office.

True, but they usually ask. I get just as upset when they don't ask me first, and it goes in the trash just like the religious materials.

This one means nothing to me. If you get in someones face and won't leave them alone, that's one thing. I disagree with muslims, JW's, Mormans and others, but because I see someone wearing a head scarf, of see a watchtower or the Book of morman doesn't mean I should be, or do, get offended. Those people who get offended by seeing this are just intolerant of anything other than their religion. I say to those people..."get over it."

When you have a business you have to watch for your customers being offended. I can't put up a big "osu SUCKS" banner in the shop even though I'd really like to. Aggy has money and likes to bling thier truck, too.

All Doc said is that it's annoying. He also said the pharmaceutical ads left without permission are annoying. People leaving stuff around your office is annoying. I agree. No matter what it is. This has nothing to do with if it's religious stuff or not. He'd be just as annoyed if someone left a Playboy or a bunch of free admission to Sugars cards lying around. Although he'd probably stash them instead of throwing away.

Just like auto dealerships. I ask if they are going to put a dealer logo on the car, if they say yes, I ask how much are they going to pay for advertizing on my car, they look at me like I've got the plague and say they won't give me anything. I tell them to sanitize the car with all of their dealer logos or I'm walking and they don't sell a car. I got a clean car...

Catholics tend not to advertise themselves or their beliefs (since they're, ya know, personal) quite as much as others, so it gets ****ing annoying that everyone else in the world seems to be enthralled with advertising their way of thinking in various forms. That's the part that ****es me off the most, anyway.

Would your tone would be different is it were Muslim materials lying around? Anti-US Muslim? Anti-Semetic?
Where is the line? I don't want any of it in my office.

Okieflyer

I didn't even bring up the "Christian argument. I was talking about all those people in todays society that get offened by anything they don't agree with. Plus how we seem to pamper them.

But I love the "personal" comments. I think any Christian, including Catholics, that can read don't see that in the bible. I think it says the opposite. It says "Go ye therefore" and "not offended for the words sake".

I can understand how a muslim or such could possibly be offended. So just one question for the "Christians" on the thread. What offends you the most? Seriously just wanting to know.

question......does Doc, or somebody from his office, routinely clean the waiting room anyway?

The ones that get me are the ones who just keep trying to hand you that stuff while you're working. Listen lady, if I've said I'm not interested in your Easter service, STOP ASKING ME. Stop trying to hand me a pamphlet. Stop trying to hand me a Chick Tract. I'm honestly not trying to be rude, but if you persist in your behavior I'm eventually going to say something mean.

And yes, Doc is 100% right. People intentionally leaving crap in his office are rude, and anyone with the manners of a 10-year-old would know that. I suppose that it wouldn't be rude to just dump trash all over someone's home because, you know, they were going to straighten up anyhow. The only reason it's even slightly confusing is because it has religious crap printed on it.
