Sitting in a japanese place for lunch I overhear the conversation at the next table:
Waitress,"you like a chopsticks"
Wench, [gasp][rolleyes] "uh, no...I'm American"

I try to always use chopsticks, it adds to the dining experience and forces me to eat slower....

Most Japanese places I've been it's the opposite. "You like a fork?", I always say "**** Yeah! I like a fork."

I don't know. I'd rather eat a raw chicken breast than send it back to the kitchen to be cooked more.
