What are the top programs of the last decade? That's the question ESPN.com has attempted to answer this week. Fifteen college football experts and analysts ranked all 119 Division I-A programs, taking into account record, traditions, recruiting, facilities, coaches, attendance and support, among other criteria.http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2949650

They had 15 analyst, who mostly put OU in their top 5 (8), some in their top 6-8
(5), Brian Kelly has them at 9 and Bill @$$wipe Curry has them at 22 after Colorado State. WTF ?????????????

Bill Curry is the former coach at Georgia Tech who couldn't win with great talent. He's another Lee Corso or Beano Cook. A never been who thinks he's a somebody.

One of the things that bothers me the most about him is he comes off as a little holier-than-thou on the Mike and Mike show when he's on there.

But how can you be holier-than-thou and consistently rank OU worse than everybody else does time and time again? You can't, unless you have an axe to grind or a personal vendetta.

Other than that, I usually like what he has to say. But this reeks of hypocrisy.

Not that I agree with what he said about OU, but the same Bill Curry had a nice run at Alabama for three or four years. If it weren't for a dispute with the university, he, not Gene Stallings, would have coached the Tide to the national title in 1992.

But I agree with the above, the guy is a ****** putting us at #22.

Per wikipedia..."Curry returned to Georgia Tech in 1980 as its head football Coach. His first head coaching decision was to dismiss the quarterbacks coach, Steve Spurrier.
...In September 1988, he refused to fly his Alabama team to play Texas A&M because of fears that Hurricane Gilbert would harm his players. The hurricane never reached College Station, Texas, and Jackie Sherrill gave the media an earful as he claimed Curry didn't come because his quarterback was injured.
Curry never achieved a record better than 6-6 at Kentucky (1993). The Wildcats posted six losing records in his seven years at Lexington, including a one-win season in 1994. Curry was asked to step down after the 1996 season (4-7) and succeeded by Hal Mumme...."

Curry comes on Mike & Mike in the Mourning and is the "know it all" of college FB.
After seeing his rankings on this list it sort of lets one know what a brilliant guy he is.

This is assinine. I was having this argument with a whorn fan just yesterday. How are they better over the last decade? We have played in 3 NC games, won 1, have played in 5 conference championship games, and won 4. The teams are 5-5 against one another.

IronSooner
8/2/2007, 11:00 AM
My only guess was they were going by win percentage, which thanks to the ncaa, might make us slip below them. And don't forget they were co-big12-south champs one year, and are perennially the state recruiting champs of tx.

Who gives a sh*t about win percentage when there are other, WAY MORE IMPORTANT, stats out there? Is TCU the team of the last 3 years? Obviously, you sense my frustration. Real schools base their success on championships. Even the Huskers get this. The whorns don't. They should know their place.

Curry's kid was on that Virginia team that OU beat the ever-lovin' DOG out of back in the '91 Gator Bowl, & I specifically remember reading him in an article saying that he thought a couple of those TD's weren't necessary. Looks like he hasn't dropped the axe just yet.

Our place is scoreboard, sir. Seriously gang, the reason that OU has lost a lot of luster in recent years is the ability to win the "big game." Mack had to deal with it before beating you and getting to AND WINNING a BCS bowl. The NC didn't hurt much either. Now we win a hell of a lot more "big games" than we lose. Look at your last 3 BCS appearances. Tough game against LSU, got outcoached. USC - destroyed in embarrassing fashion. Boise State - outcoached again and outplayed by far inferior talent. These games in particular stand out in voters minds. You guys need a big win to get back on the map. :texan:

I hate arguing with stupid people. The 'scope' of THIS argument is not head to head. It's team of the decade. Can you read? Tu has fewer Big 12 south championships, fewer Big 12 championships, fewer BCS appearances, and fewer NC appearances. We are tied with NC.

Sorry Stu -

I thought it was ok for non-OU fans to talk about the game of which you do not speak. By map, I mean the national scene. Sure, you guys are "contenders," but so are 10 other perrenial programs. You do not argue that OU is not NEAR the formidable force it was back when Mike Stoops was here, do you? That's my point. Before the 2003/2004 season, you guys had the media giving hella felacio to Bobby and the team. Now, to me, it seems that he needs to prove that he has not fallen from his horse. I ask you to ponder what your "biggest" last victory was. Exclude Nebraska in the Big XII game......that was an early Christmas present from us. I eagerly await your response. :texan:

Ground_Attack
8/2/2007, 05:54 PM
we have to tell you our last "biggest" victory but we can't count our last conference title game? so that's how TU logic works!

Mmm, since 2003/4? Isn't that less than half a decade? Isn't the question the team of decade?

I'm sorry that somehow conference championships aren't good enough for you. What's your last big win? Against Iowa in the Buda Bowl? Or moving up to the top of the Fulmer Cup in the offseason?

I'msick of arguing with these fools. One's a Texas fan, and outside of a defensless Rose Bowl is still Stoops's bitch. The others are so-called "fans" acting like the sky is falling.
