No more BMW 535d patrol cars for our boys in blue. Instead they will have a bellowing Italian 6.5-litre V12 and four-wheel-drive at their disposal, good for 211mph and 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds.

Should make high-speed chases more exciting. All 30 seconds of them.

Tuba will be mad that your local police department is driving such a gas guzzler.

Referred to by the radio traffic reports as Malfunction Junction - with good reason.

It's a typical overpriced European POS. Runs like a striped assed ape - every so often. The rest of the time it's in the shop getting $5K brake jobs.

High speed chases. Let's think about this. When they catch the bad guys driving say, a F-350 at 120 mph - what, are they gonna run the truck off in the road in that thing?

It's not as bad now that the new lanes have been added.
However until they 20-lane the entire stretch of I-275 all they way to the Skyway, it will still be a bottleneck.

On an off-subject note. The contractor was awarded a 2.5 MILLION dollar bonus for finishing the road project early. That bonus was awarded at the rate of 10 thousand bucks a day. So, he finished the project 250 days early ! His contract stated he would be fined at the same rate for running over the projected finish date.

Just seems a bit amazing to me that a contract date would be chosen that could be accomplished nearly a year Sooner. Kinda has the local populace a but upset that we pay the contractor an overcharged gazillion dollars and then pop a (small) bonus his way for finishing early. Is that normal in other states? Or just here in mis-managed Florida?
