My wife had to stay in the city last nite and spent $79 for a single room at a Days Inn.Personally I think that is a rip-off for a single room, midweek.Anybody out there reccomend a cheaper decent motel for less?

Mid-week is more expensive than weekend.

1TC would let her stay for less than that.

"best" and "cheap" are mutually exclusive.

At least he wouldn't have to worry about his wife getting hit on by the men there.

Cheap can mean different amounts to different people. Personally, I like the Holiday Inn Express on NW Expressway and May. Clean room, polite staff, nice pool, killer biscuits & gravy for breakfast along with waffles. Also, pretty family friendly as well with a bunch of shopping and food near bye. I think we paid $75+tax daily for our stay.

Good luck!

$60 for a night at the Super 8 off of I-44 at May, decent rooms, close to some good eateries....pool didn't smell like a urinal.

It wasn't too bad.

The pool ones are classic. I can't stop laughing at the name of the hotel's restaurant...

Wasn't that the name of the restaurant/bar in the early 80's, before the change of demographic makeup? I vaguely remember an oil derrick or something on the front of that part of the building 20 or so years ago. I passed it everyday going to work.

Having gone to OKC for business several times, and with the powers that be "suggesting" that we pay around $50 for a hotel room, I find this to be a useful thread.
But I can say I was very impressed with the Motel 6 on I-40 off Meridian near the fairgrounds. One of the best looking Motel 6's I've ever been to (side note: best Motel 6 I've ever stayed at was at this little town in southern Indiana on I-70 between St. Louis and Louisville; it looked more like a Holiday Inn Express than a Motel 6) and if I'm back in the area, I will stay at that Motel 6 again.

Agree, the one that is on the south side of 40 just east of meridian isn't to bad. It's one of the few that Tom actually leaves the light on for ya.

I've also stayed at the Motel 6 off I-35 near Frontier City and the one in Midwest City near the Hudiburg dealership, so I can say the one off Meridian is by far the best of the Motel 6's in the OKC metro.

I would say that they need to up their price, almost any decent place is around $79 and up.

I think you'll have trouble beating $79 a night at anything...

Thanks for the info.I'm glad there are other working class white-trash members here who think $79 is too much.I find it easier to ask here than to search the internet because 1)Ma ny SO members are intelligent, courteous, helpful. 2)I'm lazy.

In my travels around the state, I generally went for the Super 8's. They were reasonable ($50-$60 for a single room) and had all the fun stuff like wireless internet and continental breakfast.

I would be ****ed if all my company would spring for was a Motel 6. I'm not a hotel snob or anything but jeez. On company business I've always stayed at Courtyards or something similar.

Wingate is great if it's goin on the company credit card. Very clean rooms, King size bed, huge desk to work at, DSL and nice work out room. Anywhere from 75 to 100 bucks a night, depending on what city your in.

I'm for any place that has complimentary DSL's.

If you can still find a Microtel, those are usually pretty decent. I think they are just in small towns though.
