won't shut off and it keeps running the battery down. does anyone know how to fix this?

i got the dang thing almost exactly a year ago. A year and a few days to be exact. I think they have a timer that makes them break right after the warranty expires.

i think i actually got the extended warranty. i tried the troubleshooting steps...turned it off and then it turned itself back on. i guess the battery will just run down.

My Son's did that a few months ago. After going thru the menu to the sleep function about ten times, it finally stayed asleep. It's worked fine since.

Did you do the whole "Simultaneously press and Hold down the middle button and the bottom button on the wheel" thing? Sometimes my wifes won't shut off and I do that and it's good to go.

If you use the "lock" feature so you don't acidentally bump it while it's playing you have to unlock it before you can turn the iPod off.

I never have that problem with my bright yellow sony sportsman! Tape sometimes drags though

No problem. Hers does that about once every two weeks, and that fixes it every time. Plays like normal.

I love my SanDisk MP3 player.

Probable because I don't need any damn version of iTunes to put music on it.

Actually, if I were going to get a flash player then I really would get a Sansa over a nano. Those little Sansa players are awesome.

I have a 2gb Sansa to go along with my 40gb iPod, I got the Sansa for the FM radio to use at Indy or OU games. It is nice for mowing the yard and such but I still prefer the iPod and I want to get an 80gb iPod to replace my 40gb. It survived a 60 foot ride bouncing around in my topcase when I had my crash and still works, not too bad for a hard drive unit. Both are good units.

uh....not unless it's too small?

they just don't make the 60G's anymore..was wondering if they would give me a refurbished 60G or a new 80G.

I had a Creative Zen that I loved. It was the easiest thing in the world to use. But, unfortunately, I had to replace it twice because it would just all of a sudden quit working( this is why i now get the replacement plan from best buy) so i decided to go with an ipod. Its ok, not as user friendly as the creative was, and I hate itunes. It did this very same thing to me last week, and I had to let the battery completely die to get it to turn off.

i found a fix for it. turn the lock feature off and on a few times, leaving it off. then hold the menu and select buttons down simultaneously until the apple logo comes on. you may have to do this a couple of times before it starts turning off again.
