AMC seems to have any of the three Godfather movies on at any given time

i'll throw III out of the mix right away because i dont think it compares to either I or II

which is the better Godfather movie? I or II

i say II

Here it is. I think fredo gets whacked right after this scene.

There is no better scene then that in a movie...not one

greatness indeed

you knew Fredo was going to get whacked when, at the wake for his mother, Michael comes in to forgive Fredo and takes that clutching hug from him....and the other guy is standing there staring at michael, as if he were weak

right then you knew fredo's days were numbered

I think I is the better movie, but II has the better acting.

Didn't the Movie Channel a few weeks ago, splice the two movies together so the scenes were presented in chronological order?

Hard to say which is better.. the two are just so inextricably intertwined.

Oh.. and until you have seen both movies several times.. your Man Card will be placed in a suspended status.

I think that the 1st is better. I wasn't a bug fan of it jumping around so much in the second one.

Long ago Coppola made a version called The Godfather Saga where he reset the two films in chronological order. It went from being 6 hours to watch I and II to 7 and a half hours in chronological order.

Saga is always first on my list followed by II then I. I refuse to accept that they ever went beyond that.

I'll go with Marlon Brando and James Caan.

Sonny, out of breath and panting from beating/biting/kicking/trashcanlidding Carlo all over his street right in front of his home and every one Carlo knew.....says

"Touch muh............touch my sister again, I'll kill you."

I offer this inane and annoying post only to announce that I may be the only person on Earth who never gave a **** for any of the Godafther movies.

Many people get murdered in coldest blood. The End.

www.imdb.com has TGF One as the #1 movie all time and TGF Two as the #3 movie all time. The Shawshank Redemption is #2 closing in on TGF One.

I've DVR'd all three recently and watched the first two. I've heard 3 isn't even in the league of the other two, but I'll still watch it.

Of the first two, I like II better, though both are awesome.

Love them both, but I pick II. I personally think the chronological jumping around is brilliant... you see the parallels and the contrasts between the two Don Corleones as they rise to power. The elder becomes a better human being, the younger becomes a monster.

And also: Robert DeNiro>Brando.

There. I said it.

i think i'd like I better if it started earlier in the godfathers life......probably why i liked 2 so much better because you see where he came from, and why

and as VK said, DeNiro absolutely made that movie

when I watch Pacino in 3, it makes me think of some other movie he did, he just never convinced me he was the same Michael Corleone

Harry Potter is the weak link in Dean's man card.

Not being secure enough in his manhood to be seen on a Vespa is the weak link in Dean's man card.

When Dean talks about Harry Potter, it's like he morphs into Martin Prince.

"My father's name was Antonio Andolini, and this is for you!"

Yep.

II for me, although the cafe scene in I (where Michael "comes of age") is one of the greatest scenes in movie history. Just my $0.02.
