JWTK,
It is 5:30 PM and a calm 64 outside. Yes, we had snow 2 days ago! That's the only good thing about Baja!
I wonder if this thread can last until football starts up.
Found another Baja student leaving the state for OU! :D Today was good!
Thunder you owe your wife - bigtime! Buying that club and spending all of your time online....... Buy some orange golfballs and go play.

Yeah, I now have 2 stars! Seriously!
Wow. You live right smack in the middle of Texas. What's out there? I've been all over Tx, but I don't think I have hit Baja.

Did you see my Faces of Maria Shriver gif? I am terribly proud of it. It's on the 'question that has plagued man' thread.

Have we filled our schedule yet?

Has everyone watched the Star Wars Nerds thing yet?

Get back to me on those issues.

The Star Wars Nerd interviews is the television piece for the ages. How do you top Star Wars Nerd and Lord of the Rings Nerd confronting one another in broad daylight on a busy New York City street? And all for a dog-sock puppet's title of "Uber Nerd."

To top it off, Star Trek Nerd arrives at the end to give the Star Wars Nerds the bird. No, my friends, there is no better television...for me to poop on!

I enjoy The Ticket's renditions of The Fake Jerry Jones, The Fake Mark Cuban, etc. I also enjoy wondering what happened to spare metal stars of the mid-to-late 80s.

So, I decided to combine the two.

There were several people to choose from. I flirted with the idea of being The Fake Klaus Meine, The Fake Udo Dirkschneider, and The Fake Kip Winger. But, each had its own problem.

First, few would know that Meine was the lead singer of the Scorpions and Dirkschneider was the lead singer of Accept. Additionally, I couldn't really throw anyone from the Scorpions into the spare category once I really thought about it. And, Accept and Dirkschneider were too obscure with just one America hit, "Balls To The Wall."

So, I figured I'd go with a recognizable American metal spare who had named a band after himself. Winger was obvious. But, really, it's even shameful to air the Winger name, even in spoof.

Finally, there was Dokken. I remembered how cheesy Dokken was...the cheesy motto "State of the Art Rockin' With Dokken!"...the ubiquitous trite metal lyrics such as "I'm alone again, without you."

To me, Dokken rose above the Wingers, Warrants, and Poisons of the 80s metal deluge, but never quite attained the status of the Van Halens, the Scorpions, the Metallicas, etc.

I knew, then, that The Fake Don Dokken would be perfect. And, so, here I am...The Fake Don Dokken.

Just as an aside...I change screen names about once a year. Last year, I posted under the monkier MC Humpty Sooner. My M.O. there was to establish a Travian Smith Fan Club.

I'll change moniker again sometime late in the fall or early in the winter. And, again, I'm sure it'll be something to preserve the great 80s cultural cheese. A cursory brainstorm has brought forth the names of Crimson Hasselhoff and Big Red MacGyver.

What irritated me about the Scorps is when they started making money and all of the tunes were ballads. Same with Aerosmith. Same with Def Leppard.

Michael Schenker's tune "Attack of the Mad Axeman" is about as righteous as 80s guitar got.

Rudy was always basically a rhythm player. His lead were the slow ones (SEE, "Still Loving You" from Love At First Sting)

I can remember as a college age person and for a while after I was really into "underground" bands as were most of my friends. Bands who didn't scream commercial success like Sonic Youth, the Butthole Surfers, Husker Du, the Pixies, Fugazi, Ministry, The The, Scraping Fetus From the Wheel (good lord that name was bad), Velvet Underground/Lou Reed. Then Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Jane's Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, Soundgarden, etc. came along and commercialized the underground sound. Ever since then, there has been band after band come out with the underground sound and make it big time. Nickelback being one of the more recent incarnations and more of a throwback to the underground grunge era than the NuMetal Bands.

Frankly, I liked the rusty old sound and experimental nature of the original stuff. Even the earlier Nirvana, Soundgarden, etc. is better than the latest incarnations.

Are there still underground bands of the magnitude of Sonic Youth or are they just bands with no talent?

I've seen Rush and Uncle Ted the most often.

On another note, I saw a fish in the gutter on the corner of 33rd and 6th Ave. It was just laying there. Really weird. It was a big fish too. Probably about 12 - 15 lbs. It really got me to thinking. Did the fish get dropped by somebody that had purchased it or did it fall off a truck? There aren't any fish markets for about 3 blocks from there. Over on 9th avenue, I believe there's one near the port authority. Which is really a cesspool believe me. I had to use the can there one time and my friend Kelli told me not to pick up the soap. It was a pretty funny moment, believe me. I think we were headed to a holiday party in Weehawken or Hoboken. I'm not sure what time of year it was, those days can get a little fuzzy for me. That fish kind of looked like a Muskie or something, weird stuff, naming a town Hoboken or Weehawken. I drank quite a bit of beer and vodka that night. Not together mind you, but the vodka then beer later as the night mellowed and the good booze ran out.

Maybe I was witnessing some sort of evolution.

What the hell is Manstastic? That sounds sick... like pulcritude.

Anway, a warning. There is a new show on PBS by the makers of Teletubbies. It's called Boobah. It is a total acid trip peppered with homosexual inuendo. SVVWWT. The little characters are vivid colors like the Teletubbies, but they aren't different from each other exceot for color. Here's the odd part. The characters all look like penises. They fly and make weak farting noises when they take off and I swear the things make a circle and then a fog squirts out of the top of their heads. From the Electric Company to this? WTF? I'll find a pic.

It'll give you an idea, but nothing like watching the show. Their heads pop out of foreskins and everything.

Doesn't do the penises justice though. The show has their heads popping out of that foreskin looking neck. It's so freaky, I just wonder how they get away with doing this stuff. I am starting to dislike PBS a lot. What's with having for shoot out of a little slit in on the top or their heads!

Some of my co-workers had this discussion last night. Men are microwaves and women are slow-cookers. :D You are off to a good start by letting her be the one to go to FLA. Now keep the house clean while she is gone, talk nice to her when she calls (I miss you but I am glad you are having a good time because you deserve it) and don't act like you expect it. Woo her. It could be kinda fun for you to see what makes her happy. You might be surprised when it is the little things..... filling up her tank with gas just so she won't have to stop on the way into work, clearing the dinner table or starting the coffee for her in the morning.

But I will tell you, since we just had Valentine's Day, some of the women that I work with did receive flowers - but they really didn't care for them. What a waste! True, but you will earn even more points by doing it again - when there isn't a "special occasion" other than you were thinking of her. Then all the other women are going to drool. :D A husband of one of our teachers sent her a plant or arrangement during the first week of school - every year. Just to let her know that he knew it was a tough week and was thinking of her. Major points with the other women. He would also occassionally drop by with a nice take out lunch for her and her grade level teachers (usually a total of 4). Major points again.

I was drinking a couple of beers yesterday and I decided that Bud Light isn't really very good unless it's hot out. If it's cold out, like it is here, I think that the richer beers are more appropriate. I was having one called Kostritzer. I liked it. I like the malty-er beers too, but this one hit the spot.

Up here we have a brand from Kalamazoo called Bells and if you EVAR have the chance to buy it, do. I like the amber the best. It is a very full beer. You can just taste how much malt they use. It's delicious. It's also pricey. I hadn't heard of it when I lived down south, but it comes highly recommended. We have another one from Chicago called Goose Island. It's a nice beer the quality of Sam Adams. The taste is similar with the biggest difference in the hop character. You might try that one too, if you can get it. One that is more universal is Young's. They have an ale called Ramrod that is great. Just a few suggestions.

Do you remember Michael Bolton when he was metal? He had that song called Fools Game, I think. He used to dress like Coverdale or Bon Jovi. All I can remember from the video is a black Les Paul guitar and a floor that was lit up from underneath.

My favorite fishing reels are:
baitcaster: Shimano Curado updated with #7 bearings
spinning: daiwa tournament ss 1300. bullet proof in salt water.
For rods, I have several Redbone ML and Medium. Very sensitive.
Line: Spiderwire Stealth. Soft, flexible, minimal wind knots.
Favorite lures: Cal Glo jerk bait, DOA shrimp, Exude baby bass.

I completely suck at fishing. I love to fish, but I don't know what i am doing. I used to bay fish in Newport Bay in Cali, and I used to catch great fish all of the time. Now, I lose my hook, or hook my hand, or just sit there for an hour and when i get one, it's like a sorry catfish or a little fish. Now, lure fishing for me is even worse.

Even the Rolling Stones sang about Pavlov's dog. Today the Inane Morning Trivia staff sadly notes the passing of the owner of Pavlov's dogs, Ivan Petrovich Pavlov (b. 1849) who died on Feb. 27, 1936. Pavlov won the 1904 Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine. He developed the concept of a conditioned reflex. He would ring a bell just prior to feeding a hungry dog; the dog salivated when the food appeared. After a while, the dog would salivate at the sound of a bell, even when no food was forthcoming.

You are killing dude! MJ had Off the Wall, Thriller, Bad, and the album with Black and White, not to mention a string of hits with his bros. Cyndi had more than one hit. She had Girls just wanna have fun, AND true colors, and has sung on critically acclaimed albums. She had some other hits too, but I can't remember that far back.
