I know, I know...we have this discussion EVERY year at this time (right before football season), BUT I am ready to buy the biggest baddest mofo TV there is.

SO, please share any and all information about quality, prices, DLP vs Plasma vs blah blah blah, what is good what is not.

I am too lazy to do all the research, mucho spek for all that help!

You said you wanted big....

It's the "my TV is bigger than yours" wars and though Samsung seems to have won the LCD part of it, Matsu****a (maker of Panasonic products) is pulling a ridiculous 103-inch plasma out of its *** to take the cake at this year's CES. In Korea, Samsung has the largest plasma on the market at 80-inches and $130,200 and Matsu****a started selling a 65-inch plasma for about $8600 in Japan. So, this is the biggest. Nah, nah, nah, nah nah. Only a prototype, specs are for full high def, meaning 1,920 by 1,080 pixels of resolution.

Matsu****a unveils record 103

I bought an 60" Mitsubishi RP about 6 years ago for twelve hunnerd. It has been a great tv. Had it tuned up last year for around sixty bucks(there is something that has to be re-aligned from moving it around and stuff). Not sure what the life expectancy is on the RP's, but it will be a black day in my life the day it craps out.

I liked the Pioneer HD Televisions but were not worth the price difference in my opinion and in the opinion of numerous salesman that I spoke with. Sony makes a nice Plasma too, but again the price was not worth the Sony name IMO, plus I've had poor results with the Sony brand altogether when purchasing their products.

I chose the newest models of yhe Panasonic Plasma HD with the newer black matte finish (in comparison to the silver finish). I went with the 50" for the living room and the 42" for the master bedroom. Both are easy to hang on a wall or to simply put on a plasma tv stand. I also like the EZ Sync capability when I purchased the Panasonic Home theatre system which made installation a snap.

I've only had them since March but they are both awesome TV's at their respective price points and the SD is pretty decent in comparison to the HD reception, but there is still a HUGE difference between the two. I can't wait to see my 1st OU game in HD when I'm not in attendance in person.

Good luck!

I thought they did. If not, it must have been a regular HD but I'm pretty sure that it was a plasma.

I think they did at one time, but not anymore. Not that it's that big of a deal.

Not a big deal at all and a lot can change in electronics in just a few months.

To test all of them, this is how I started. I first bought a 50" Sony LCD loved it! Then I bought a 50" Samsung DLP it was ok. Finally, I bought a 50" Pioneer Plasma Elite, blew my mind away.
