Dean: "Scooters are for homos and communists."

BRJ: "Vespas are NOT scooters. John Wayne rode a Vespa."

Dean: "Homos.. Ah tell ya... only homos ride them things. Ya cant even shoot a deer off the back of one."

BRJ: "Chicks dig Vespas."

Dean: "Only homo chicks."

Just thought I would beat the Christmas rush and get this out of the way.

Take that back.

Even if it's true.

They had a LIVE shot from the concert awhile ago on the local news...

The lips were warming up....

That would have been fun to go see...

Oh well...

Drunktown here I come...

To answer yermom: I ride a Stella (Vespa P-series clone with parts interchangeable and lines mostly indistinguishable with a Vespa LX150). I also own a '59 Allstate (Vespa) 125 basket case. So far, I have done most of the work on it myself, with some of my friends with scooters offering advice. One of my best friends is the president of the Vespa Club of America, and he has a great shop himself, which has been way helpful.

If you have a two-stroke steel body vintage or vintage-type scoot like mine, you could get it worked on at Atomic Brown on N. Western or at the BMW/Vespa store on the I-40 service road, just east of Meridian. I also have some friends who do shadetree work on that type of stuff. If you want to get in touch with them, hit me up.

If you're riding tupperware, best to get it fixed wherever you bought it if it's a name brand like Genuine or Kymco. If you bought one of those 50cc hardware store specials, you're probably (seriously) going to have to throw it away and start over, although Atomic Brown might take a look at it.

To Lid: Vespas ARE scooters. They are THE scooter, in fact. What they are NOT is mopeds.

Yeah, cause you gotta be wearing a skirt to ride one of those things. Why do you think they have the special lady's step-through and extra-wide saddle for cellulite?

I saw a guy the other day buzzing down the road (scooters buzz BTW) with his helmet pushed way back on his head and big ol' chick sunglasses on - grinning ear-to-ear. What's cool about scooter boys is they remind me of the geeks who used to play handball off the gym wall in junior high. You're a geek, everybody thinks you're gay, but you don't give a ****. I'm pretty sure that handball playing vespa boys probably have the most fun.

mine is pretty close to this one, but not exact:

http://www.jacksscootershop.com/images/Honda_50/79_blue_ExpressII.jpg

i guess it's more of a moped... no pedals though

i ran it out of gas and now it won't start :O

it seems to spark ok, and it's getting gas, but it won't stay running. i'm not sure if it has lost compression or what. i was going to replace the spark plug, but i can't seem to find one

the weirdo wind up starter and "automatic" transmission (it only has one gear) mean i can't roll start it or anything.

it needs some other things, like the lights and battery don't work, but i could probably fix those things pretty easily, assuming i can find parts...

once i get a motorcycle endorsement, i may look into a Stella or something
