New Montana Lineman Quinn Arrested on Suspicion of Drunken Driving
Jul 23, 10:18 PM (ET)

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) -Montana lineman J.D. Quinn, who transferred from Oklahoma after being kicked off the team there, was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

Montana coach Bobby Hauck didn't release details Monday of the junior offensive lineman's arrest, saying only that disciplinary action will be taken.

"As always, there will be firm disciplinary measures taken, and those measures will be handled within our football team," Hauck said in a statement. "One of the disciplinary actions will include mandatory alcohol counseling."

Missoula Police Lt. Mike Brady said Quinn was pulled over for speeding at 2:39 a.m. Sunday. Police records said Quinn was going 44 mph in a 35 mph zone.

"After the officer did the field sobriety test, he was arrested," Brady said. "He was processed per standard procedure."

Quinn was arrested for speeding and first-offense DUI, both misdemeanors, Brady said. He was taken to the Missoula County jail and later released on bail. Quinn appeared in court Monday and pleaded not guilty to both charges, a Municipal Court reporter said.

After-hours calls seeking comment from Quinn's attorney weren't immediately returned.

Brady said it appeared Quinn was driving by himself when he was pulled over and was cooperative during his arrest.

Quinn and Oklahoma quarterback Rhett Bomar were kicked off the team last August and lost a year of eligibility for being paid for work they had not performed at a car dealership. Both are eligible to play again this fall.

The NCAA said earlier this month that Oklahoma must erase its wins from the 2005 season and will lose two scholarships for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 school years because of the infractions. The NCAA said Oklahoma was guilty of a "failure to monitor" the employment of the players.

Oklahoma sent a notice of appeal to the NCAA last week.

I didn't know there were traffic laws in Montana.

I think Quinn and Scott Olsen, that derelict pitcher from the Florida Marlins, should just go on a three-day bender and drop off the face off the earth.

For his sake, I hope Quinn matures soon...

It said he cooperated. That's more than I expected when I read the headline.

At least he didn't tell the cop to get a real job...or something equally stupid.

Quinn was arrested for speeding and first-offense DUI HA!

In that state!

That makes a DUI in three states, right? Just 47 more states to go.

I feel like this kid needs constant supervision. Or an electric collar. Maybe a tape-delay on everything he says. Probably all three. (http://www.grizzoulian.com/2007/07/articles/football/jd-quinn-gets-a-dui/)

He's such a turd that if he hadn't been involved in the BRSI case, he'd have been gone soon after July 2006 anyway. It's as clear as Quinn stated himself... he "doesn't care."

Any moment we're going to hear the "What's the big deal? It's not like I killed someone" defense like he used in the Tulsa World article.

This is all Montana's fault, they should control their players. Why don't they have someone following him at @ 2 in the morning? sheesh schools must be held accountable for things they cant' control. -Signed the NCAA

I went to middle and high school with this kid. He's wasn't smart then... and it looks like he hasn't learned anything since. That's sad.
