What major championship do you think is the most prestigious?

My take on it is:

1. The Open- Because it is where golf was born
2. US Open- As an American you want to win this one most of all if not The Open first.
3. Masters
4. PGA Championship

1. The Master's. Same course every year. Just exudes the gentlemen's game golf is. And fluke's rarely win the Master's (well, except for this year!). Plus, you have to make shots to win(well, except for this year!). So many people "lose" the U.S. Open, but you have to go "win" The Master's. Hell, the year Phil won his first, Ernie Els shot a 68 on Sunday. Phil had to beat him. The best tradition.

2. U.S. Open/British Open. Depends on where you are from. And depends on which course. If it is a year the U.S. Open is at somewhere abstract like Bethpage and the British is at St. Andrews, give me the British. You want to win at the very traditional courses.

4. PGA. Come on, not even close. I'm with Harry. This is way down there and no better than winning the TPC or the Match Play Championship(as the PGA Championship used to be) except it counts as a major.

I've always been partial to the Masters myself, so from my perspective it would go: Masters, US Open, British Open, PGA.

Worldwide, I would say that the British Open is the most "prestigious", then the Masters, US Open, PGA
