OSU gets new mattresses

Did anyone else see this in the daily today. Mike Holder purchased new mattresses for the athletes. The new ones are 54" x 96", a king size in only 80" long. They stated this didn't violate any NCAA rules. Isn't that showing favoritism to athletes? I know my kid (a non-athlete) would have liked that size bged in his dorm. Also, who'is buying the bedding for this special sized bed. Again I had to but that stuff for my kid. Just wanting to know if I read too much into it.

The CEO of Simmons is an aggie grad (wonder if you get a tax credit for that like when hiring welfare folk) and he donated them.

Even then, I know the NCAA no longer allows athlete-only dorms so how do you buy them for only athletes and not the rest of the residents?
