NORMAN — Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity is moving into new
territory this month when it kicks off "A Noble Effort" build campaign
on Friday, July 20. That afternoon, the University of Oklahoma football
team will assist Habitat for Humanity in clearing the land.

"The football team is looking forward to helping Cleveland County
Habitat for Humanity as it begins its build projects in Noble," said
senior running back Jacob Gutierrez. "We were looking for a project
where we could grow together as a team - off the field. This is a great
opportunity for our team and we get to help the local community."

Habitat homes have been built in Norman and Moore and the next phase is
to build in Noble. CCHFH will build two houses and rehab one home during
the next 12 months. The Sooners will be clearing the two lots, trimming
trees, painting and working on construction projects.

"We are excited about the opportunity to work with the University of
Oklahoma football team," said Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity
Board President Lisa Portwood. "Not only do we get to utilize their
strength but we get to see their heart in how they give back to the
community."

A "Sooner Playhouse" will be built, painted and autographed by the
football team. The playhouse will be on display at Sooner Mall beginning
July 31-Aug. 4.

A drawing for the playhouse will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4.
Tickets will be available for purchase at Sooner Mall beginning Aug. 1
at 11 a.m., or individuals can contact Cleveland County Habitat for
Humanity at 360-7868.

"All proceeds from the Sooner Playhouse will benefit our Noble Effort
build projects," said Portwood. "If we can raise $5,000 with this
fundraiser, those donations will pay for the trusses and roofing
materials for one of the homes in Noble."

Cleveland County Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical
Christian housing ministry that builds homes for people in need of
simple, decent housing. Habitat uses volunteer labor, discounted
building materials and donations from the community to build homes in
partnership with those families in need of basic shelter.
