There had been rumors of Devon wanting to build a 50+ story building downtown for their corporate headquarters but they were concerned about the KM building and some other vacant buildings down town.

Well the KM building sold to Sandridge Energy and Sandridge is going to move their operations down there. This is huge news for OKC. Sandridge is about to go public, with that extra cash they will be investing even more into oil and gas, which means more jobs.

If the Devon tower happens, this could mean a big tipping point in Oklahoma City growth. We could, and I mean could be mentioned in the same breath as Charlotte and Las Vegas when it comes to growth.

And yeah, In another article in the Okahoman, Tom ward let it slip something to the affect "WHEN Oklahoma City gets an NBA team, it will be a real attractive place to do business".

Sounds like he knows something we don't.

Not so fast...

I'm heading up a group of people who want to redo the Golden Driller.

I'll just say this...

Relying solely on Oil and Gas to make your City a player is a huge mistake. Look back 25 years. Oklahoma City needs more!!!

I think they've been trying to diversify for awhile now. Its just thats all OKCs got to go on right now. Better than nothing.

You obviously have not been to Moore lately, in South and West Moore numerous, very nice gated communities have sprung up all over with very nice homes and a virtual commercial building boom is occurring in Moore near I-35...

The problem is they didn't diversify back when the first boom went bust.

Well we were trying to land the piper plant, and a new software company has moved to 50 penn place from NY. But yes, we still need more diversity.

I don't see the oil and gas industry going bust this time. Unfortunately we are stuck with $2-3 gas for awhile.

I've been reading about this in The Oklahoman for the past few days.

Sounds pretty awesome. Like the article said, its been hard to follow everything but looks like everything is going to turn out for the best.
