maybe it's because it's somewhat fresh compared to others, but As Good as it Gets is the first one that comes to mind.

Five Easy Pieces

that's a good one, for sure. the bowling scene is bizzarro and the white toast scene is a classic.

he also did the Antonioni film "the Passenger" in the 70's, which i like quite a bit. hardly a summer blockbuster but an interesting "arty" film. some great shots of Gaudi architecture in Barcelona.

I tried to sit through A Few Good Men a couple months ago but can't get past the Cruise factor, and plus it's just not that good or at least dated. see: Top Gun.

The Witches of Eastwick. He made out with three pretty hot, scratch that, two really hot women.

This one is pretty classic.

Well, I work all the time. So never, never again interrupt me. Okay? I mean, never. Not 30 years from now... not if there's fire. Not even if you hear a thud from inside my home and a week later there's a smell from in there that can only come from a decaying body and you have to hold a hanky against your face because the stench is so thick you think you're going to faint even then don't come knocking or, if it's election night and you're excited and want to celebrate because some fudge-packer you dated has been elected the first queer President of the United States... and he's going to put you up in Camp David and you just want to share the moment with someone... don't knock ... not on this door. Not for anything. Got me. Sweetheart?

Yeah, maybe best work. It's just that he has that attitude thing a goin' and everyone knows that his characters are going to have that attitude. So, he can fully play out the devil, homophobic, mafia and like that's acting.

Can't believe no one's mentioned his role as the Joker.

That said, I prefer Jack in The Shining, followed by Cuckoo's Nest and Easy Rider.

Eastwick and some of those scenes like in the church and his giant laundry room were classic! Not to mention the hotties - he was damn devilish in that flick.

Shinning as well -
