I hope I wasn't the only one that caught the 10 most elusive runners in the NFL.
Little Joe was #8.
They showed clips from a Monday Night Game when Joe was with the Colts. He threw a t.d. pass, caught a pass for a t.d. and return a kick off in O.T. for a t.d. in the rain on that slick Astro-Turf. 1978.
Good piece on him. Aired on 7-04-07.

Joe Washington is probably the most exciting running back I've ever seen. That includes Sanders and Sayers. Sanders was overall better but Washington was magically elusive, shifty and more exciting.

the first commenter is right. this game wasn't on TV. and i remember being out on the golf course with my dad, everyone has a radio and the golf course comes to a complete standstill on this 4th and 1 and the howls of jubilation when Joe breaks it.

What do you think the Sooner24 stands for? My all time favorite Sooner in any sport. I'm sure glad he is back in Norman working for OU.

I was blessed to be in the stadium at Columbia that day....one of the great finishes of a game of all time. The silence in the stadium was deafening when Little Joe broke off that 70+ yard td.

Don't mistake this for me comparing Jermie Calhoun to Little Joe.

But this run (starting at :27) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqLqabwlJS8) reminds me a lot of Little Joe's runs.

I was fortunate to be a student at OU from 72-75, the same as Little Joe. I was at Orin's Pizza the night during the week following the 73 season (OSU was the final game, played either December 1 or 2 that year so it was late into the semester) when it seemed the entire team showed up. Joe ate two whole pizzas by himself.

....and then chopped down the north woods and dug out the Erie canal with his giant bluetick hound Baby by his side.
Then, hungry for more, he built the pyramids of Egypt.

Seriously, he was unreal. And the Marley background brings back good memories, too.

I seem to remember some article (sports illus.?) that said he put away more steaks at the team table than just about anyone.
