Thing is, pool and spa drains have been causing this type injury for at least 15 years. Lawsuits have resulted in some MEGA verdicts. There exists a fix that costs an additional amount to install. Less than $50 if I recall correctly. Any public accomodation that has a pool or spa without the "safe" drain deserves to be whacked severely by a jury. Any pool maufacturer, distributor, or installer who does not have written proof that they warned the purchaser of the dangers and were told NOT to install the fix deserves to be whacked equally severely.
