I'm not usually one to try oddball beers, but I tried a Blue Moon while in Chicago recently and it was pretty good stuff. The real-life Irish bartender gave me a "tester" of Guiness......foul liquid.

I usually just drink Bud Light though.

I'm a self-admitted beer snob.

Tonight's choice is a Green Flash Imperial IPA. Since I travel a lot, I pick up beers while I'm on the road, roll 'em up in dirty clothes and stick 'em in my suitcase and bring them home. I also do a lot of trading with other beer nerds from around the country to keep new stuff around.

But when I'm just drinkin' beer I like the bottles of Guinness Draft. And I'm just fine drinking Coors Light at a baseball game.

Well in my case, generally speaking. I tend not to drink any more beer or alcohol after having a Guinness, so I know when I get one in a resturant I won't be overdoing it.

With Molson I think I kinda get lucky in that because of my proximity to Canada, we actually get the product from Canada and not the Molson brewed in US based breweries.

[QUOTE=FmrEmpOUathdept]what kind of beer is Fat Tire?

from the New Belgium website

Like the ageless delight of pedaling a bicycle, Fat Tire Amber Ale’s appeal is in its feat of balance: Toasty malt flavors (sorta like biscuits just pulled from the oven) coasting in equilibrium with crisp hoppiness. Delicious stability - in the world of sometimes-precarious beer flavors – is perhaps what prompted one consumer who wrote us to say, “this beer just makes you smile.”

Fat Tire’s depth of flavor, achieved with neither a disproportionate sway toward hops or malts, tandems well with a full spectrum of today’s engaging cuisines. Salmon, dry-aged cheeses, roasted chilies, omelets at midnight, sweet potato French fries and just about anything with grill marks or garlic are just a few of the edibles we like to partner up with our Amber Ale.

Fat Tire is so named for the bike trip Jeff took through Belgium that greatly inspired his homebrewing efforts.

Pretty much the only time I drink mass produced domestic beer is when we go camping and I have to bring cans, and drink giant quantities. That and if somebody hands me a cold one, I'll drink it. Generally, if I'm going the weak or cheap beer route at home, it's almost always Messican.

My fridge is generally full of Miller Lite. I really really really like all of Leinenkugel's (sp) beers. I like all of the offerings from the folks that make Fat Tire. I think the 1884 may be my favorite. I like all of Boulevard's stuff, their Pale Ale may be my favorite.

About the only beer that I don't really care for is Coors Light and anything that has a fruit in it's name. Not a big Corona, Tecate or Dos Equis guy either.

Then again, I drink a lot of beer so my three favorites are in this order;
1) free
2) cold
3) in my hand

There's a time and place for just about every beer. If you've been mowing the lawn, coming in for a stout isn't my idea of a good match. If you're going to drink a few dozen beers in one sitting I don't recommend the stout then either.

oh, Blue Moon is made by Coors in case you didn't know that.

Apparently, I need to try some of this Boulevard stuff, lots of you guys mentioning it. I never seen it so I don't think it's available out here.

As far as lawnmower beer or 116 degree weather beer out here, my current favorite is New Belgium's Skinny Dip brew. It's light and refreshing yet still tastes like pretty good beer. Sam Adams Spring Ale used to be pretty decent on a sweltering day, but I'm not sure they make it anymore, haven't been able to find it the last couple of years. As much as I love Guinness, or other stouts, they are reserved for the winter months only in Arizona.
