when I watched that American flag program on OETA.

To wit, OUr flag, the "Stars and Stripes," was the first flag in world history that was completely and totally secular. That's right, no religious symbology and no monarchical emblems from monarchs -- who purportedly derived their authority from God (a/k/a "The Divine Right of Kings")

did the S and S pre-date the French flag? they did that F the monarchy thing before we did, but with less elan and more guillotine.

The French Tricolor was not raised until after our flag. The French Revolution did not take off until after the US was a fact.

The French Revolution is definitely one of my least favorites coming in only ahead of the Bolshevik Revolution.
