I just saw it...

I'm torn on what to think, beginning was good, the middle dragged and the ending battle could have been better. The final battle just kind of felt disjointed, it didn't flow well...

It did however, have some cool **** in it, a couple references back to the series, but you'd have to know them...

I could have done without pretty much all of the silliness from the Autobots, but otherwise, it was pretty good.

I wish the robots would have looked closer to what they did on the old toys, though, where you could really tell what they looked like in their other form. I had a heckuva time telling the different robots apart because they fragmented so much that you almost lose their other form entirely.

There were some very Armageddon-esque scenes in there, and some music that I thought might have been ripped directly from it.

Boarder
7/5/2007, 11:26 AM
The three year old sat through the whole movie without screaming. He giggled when Optimus Prime first came on the screen but other than that watched intently. And loved it.

I thought it was like a high budget live action kid's cartoon. The story was like that, and the dialogue, etc. But, if you think of it that way it was a good fun movie. I thought Armageddon was unintentionally funny and stupid in parts while trying to be all serious. Transformers seemed to embrace that and that made it a lot funner (yes, I said it) to me.

My only pseudo complaint was about the fight scenes. And it seems to be a problem with a lot of movies. There is so much going on and it's so fast with the CGI you can hardly tell what's happening. It's just a blur.

If you go watch it with the attitude that it's going to be a funny neat little movie with lots of explosions and stuff you should have a good time at it.

And, my boy told me my truck looked like a Transformer truck.

pergdaddy
7/5/2007, 12:09 PM
F'n awesome movie. Loved every minute of it. Do wish the fight scenes could have been a little slower, but they worked. Sequels will probably be better at that. It is was it is. Just like Armageddon. Best movie I have seen this year. And I have seen Spidey 3, Ghost Rider, FF: Silver Surfer and Knocked up as well. I am taking my 5 and 3 year old sons to see it. I know they'll love it.

And, ("preparing for beating or profound mental retardation comment"), I like Michael Bay. I like all movies. Some I need to be serious, some funny, some just like Transformers, which was just pure fun. And growing up playing with TF toys, this was fun to see.

Boarder
7/5/2007, 01:17 PM
The problem with previous Michael Bay movies is that they are stupid but think they're smart. Which makes them look even more stupid.

I never liked comic books; therefore, I can not be disappointed in how well a movie captures the uh "spirit" of the comic book series its based on. Be that as it may, I did love the cartoon Transformers as a kid and had nearly every damned one of the toys. I'm going to go see it, but I sure hope they didn't **** up my childhood.

I'm pretty sure that when I get the DVD, I'll probably just jump to the exciting part when the Autobots are introduced. I think that all of comedy early on was just to bring it up to date with what Hollywood offers. Some of it was even childish at some points and when Sam's mom questions what he was doing in his room?...that was a little too much, especially for a movie of this magnitude.

I agree with SB, concerning the fight scenes. At least you could tell who the Autobots were during those scenes.

I was disappointed a little that we didn't have the same 'ol transformation sounds that we all grew up loving, but hey...it was good regardless.

As an official Transformers dork, the original transformation sound was present, especially in the first transformation when Blackout(the helicopter) transformed at the base in Qatar. It's there for the most part in the other transformations, but it's much more subtle.

And they changed it up a lil'. But it's there.

I enjoyed the character building at the beginning--it really made Spike a likeable character, IMO. I wish there had been some time to do some for the Autobots and Decepticons. When Megatron told Starscream that he had failed again, all I could think of was that he said it because he was supposed to. I don't think someone who had never seen the show would understand what was going on.

I'll agree with you that the humor was pretty low brow (except for the stuff Bumblebee was doing when Spike was trying to give the chick a ride home), but it's pretty much what I've come to expect from movies these days. I don't get it, but everyone else laughed. I hated when I saw that type of behavior from the Autobots, though. It seemed totally unlike something sentient robots who had quested across the galaxy in search of a precious item would do when they were that close to it.

This is what I was thinking as well. I definitely heard it that first time, and got all giddy. After that I kept straining to hear it, and you kinda can, but it is subtle. That was one of my big requirements for the movie - don't mess with the sound. I think it turned out okay, but it would have been nice to be a little more "classical" transforming sound.

NoTHING ELSE. Don't show me what the other loser human characters are doing, they're freaking weak.

I loved this movie and will watch it over and over, but it could've been a whole lot better. Ditch the focus on the humans.

Saw it Monday night and loved it. Considering the lack of decent blockbusters lately, this thing filled the bill. Only complaint I had was the inability to follow the fight scenes. There was so much going on, it was hard to figure out which way was up on the Transformers themselves.

And Megan Fox. Oh, Megan Fox. her name suits her well. When she popped that hood...... ;)

And if Chevrolet doesn't get that Camaro into production immediately, they are just plain dumb. On a side note, you can buy the GMC now.

We bought the movie at Blockbuster on Tuesday and got a free Transformer MP3 player with the purchase.

I hadn't been able to see the movie until Friday Night.

I have left my Wife for Megan Fox.

I must find her....;)
Maybe if she ate a cheeseburger and could string three words along to make one coherent sentence.

Her skull is as empty as Dean's bottle of Crown after a Sooner home game. She was the worst part of the movie.

Watched it again last night with the boys.

My 8 year old asked what "masterbation" was.

No need to explain it -- the answer will eventually come.

Explaining it properly might avoid him turning out like you.

Just what the hell does this have to do with the whole PIITB thing again?

Shoot, I don't care if you could park a Buick between her ears. I don't want deep conversation and a dissertation on world peace and German economics. I wanna put my pee-pee in her hoo-hoo.

Duh.

Speaking for myself, dumb *** girls annoy the ever loving crap out of me. I can't stand to be within 30' of those types of chicks for more than 30 seconds which may be all that I need but I don't want to find out.

word. I'm saving up for a new 360 elite. It comes with a HDDVD player, for a nominal fee, of course. New badass looking 360, and HDDVD player.

and no colleyville, I did not spill any bong water. But thank you for your concern.

From what I'm hearing, they're working on getting this to support Dolby TrueHD, which the current XBox HD DVD addon does not.

No kidding - 2+ hours of nonstop eye and ear candy. And I've only scratched the surface of the special features, but it looks like they went all out on this one.

so what is a dual HDTV tuner? does that mean I could get HD TV and not have to pay for the HD TV receiver?

Check out the Iron Man trailer that you get at the end of the credits. My only complaint is that they didn't include a lossless soundtrack, but the DD+ soundtrack still sounds pretty sweet.

Sure, for OTA stuff.
