So the wife bought me some board shorts. They don't have the mesh thingy in them like normal swimsuits have, are you supposed to wear underwear with them or what? If not, what prevents those embarassing frog eyes and banana in your pants scenarios?

wear them in the shower, let your wife tell you if they are transparent when wet.....if so, wear something under

if not, go commando

Heh. I actually hadn't even thought of transparency issues. :O I was more concerned with unsightly bulges.

She might start now that she has no use for it anymore. :(

yes, the idea of those is to wear boxers under them like surfers do, hence the name board shorts

I don't surf and don't know any real surfers, hence the question. That helps though.

Unless they are white, I go commando in them... I think that either is acceptable. Whenever I first started wearing them I had the same problem, but they dont bulge as bad as you think they might the material is typically stiffer than the material for normal suits with the mesh insides, which is also good for when the water is cold :O

I wear the shorter board shorts made for wimmins.

I also do not wear anything under them... though I sure dont have to worry about unsightly bulges.

 :)

The webbing takes the place of skivvies, at least theoretically; go commando.

Besides, if you're actually in the water a lot, there's the shrinkage factor.

Even if you go cammo, and there's no unsightly bulge due to the material being thick enough, what about the stinkin' chaffing? I can't stand to have my junk rubbin' up against canvas chaffin' material, specially when it's wet!

Seriously, I wear a speedo (shorts...jams, not the banana hammock kind) under those because I don't trust some thin velcro to keep my biz in check. It is a little more uncomfortable than commando though.
