Since 2000, the Americans are 9-2-1 against Mexico, including 8-0-1 on U.S. soil. Never mind that facing Mexico in the United States may as well be a road game. At Soldier Field on Sunday, the sellout crowd of 60,000 was overwhelming cheering for Mexico. Aside from Sam's Army base behind one of the goals, the stadium was awash in green.

"We know what to expect, it's been going on for years and years," Brian Ching said. "We're the away team when we play Mexico in the U.S. We thrive off that."

So that's what those Spanish-only radio stations talk about.

If the immigration problem goes unchecked, soon, Mexicans will dominate the crowd at soccer matchups between the US and Mexico at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.

WE MUST ACT NOW!!!!

We have a CONCACAF Gold Cup Champion Soccer Team :P

Chicago has a large Mexican and Puerto Rican community, so the crowd thing wasn't much of a surprise. However, for the last 15 minutes of the game, the 70% Mexican crowd was drown out by the 30% USA crowd chanting "U-S-A" after hearing chants of "Meh-e-co" for a majority of the first 75 minutes.

i know we have a team(s) it's just that no one really cares about soccer here, i mean we have real football ;)

it's like WRC or F1, the rest of the world cares a lot more than we do

yes, and it's sad that a majority of the country couldn't appreciate the greatness that was that last 15 minutes. It was patriotism at it's finest.

Our 2nd goal was one of the best I've ever seen...great game..

What will it take for them to get more support? A World Cup win or would that not even do it?

Umm... maybe play a sport that is more fun to watch than paint drying?

a World Cup win I think would create short term interest. Our run in 1994 basically spawned the MLS from it. And based upon our track record, 2010 should be a good World Cup for us.

I doubt we'll win 2010 but we should have a pretty good run in 2010...they've been harping on it to be "our year" for a while now (project 2010)

oh I can go through structural reasons why we won't win in 2010. However, I'd say we have a realistic shot at qualifying for the second round. Of course provided we don't end up in a bracket with say Brazil, Ghana, and Turkey. ;)
