that is making my home page into this ad for a virus scan. Symantec is not picking it up. Any advice?

whatever you do, don't purchase Norton anything

bleh.

some viruses will disable virus software

i'd try an online scanner, like this one: http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/security_solutions/housecall_free_scan.php#

It makes it look like its from microsoft, but it says stuff like virus heal, dr. antivirus...the addy is "thesafetynotes.com"

do you have any anti-spyware stuff?

the AVG link is for anti-spyware

i use them for anti-virus as well though, yeah

thanks man...the trendsecure has found 2 spywares already adn 35 vulnerable microsoft stuff.

actually, it looks like you have to run smitfraud to fix it... (same way I had to fix spycrush)

I had mozilla a while back, but the IT people took it off my laptop..now on this page that was popping up, it said the threat was in mozillayadayadayada...

i had a similar problem and used a deadly combo of smitfraud, ewido, and hijackthis. that seemed to work aces for me.
