So while visiting the family this past week, I played Guitar Hero for the first time (I actually don't know if it was GH1 or 2). Now I gots to have it. The kid has a PS2 so I'll be playing it on that.

should I get Guitar Hero 1 or 2? Other than the songs, is there something in Guitar Hero 2 that isn't in GH1? I'm guessing you can use the same guitar for both games.

Hmm... I think the gameplay is pretty much the same. Am I wrong? Make sure you get a wireless guitar, as cords are teh succ.

Get 2 it is better, JMHO. the cords can succ but the wireless can lag behind.

it comes out for the wii in november...I guess that's when the third one hits the stores.

Gameplay in GH2 is much easier to learn on. The hammer-on/pull-off system in 2 is also much more responsive than one. The quality of songs in both are very good, though, and GH1 is definitely worth picking up for songs such as Ironman, Texas Flood, Spanish Castle Magic, and Cowboys From Hell.

I'm waiting for Bass Hero, and it requires you to try and be Bootsy Collins, as well as Fiddle Hero so I can channel Charlie Daniels.

I played GH2 at a friends house this weekend and it's taken every fiber of my being to keep from buying it.

My question is: can I play the PS2 version of this game on my PS3? I'm assuming I have to buy a PS3 specific guitar.

You would think I would know the answers to these elementary questions, but I haven't taken motorstorm out of the console since I bought it.

I saw an article that showed a 12 year old destroying the lead guitarist of Mastadon. It was pretty funny.

there is also Rock Band coming out. with drums, bass, and guitar. but the main questions is.........will there be a cow bell and "don't fear the reaper"

There's an older thread somewhere about GH. I played it (after the kids were going "dad, have you ever heard of War Pigs by Black Sabbath?"). It was fun, but I really don't see how you'd call it a "game" or why anybody would get addicted to it. I can understand digging on Pacman or Asteroids, but GH? Nah. It's a silly novelty, at best. If you're foregoing important **** in your life so you can sit there with a stupid little plastic guitar thinking you're Jimmy Page, then yes, you are gay. And pathetic.

What's really killing me now though is when we're driving along and Freebird comes on the radio and my 14 year old goes "dad, I can play this on GH." I go "no boy, you can't play that. At all."

FYI- There's an '80's version coming out. Not sure if that's good or bad. Most of the songs I like on my son's GH2 are '80's songs.

how do you turn "hyper mode" on and off? someone put mine on hyper mode and I can't figure out how to turn it off. TIA.
