actually, their opinion is much more complicated than that. I'm working in NYC this month for the Center for New American Media and they have a documentary called The Anti-Americans (a hate/love relationship) that will air on PBS Monday August 27th at 10 p.m. EST.

It's about the European views of America--its culture, politics, history, and people. The US-European Relationship:

Europe facks things up, making messes they can't clean up (WWI, WWII, Vietnam, creating countries out of the former Kingdom of Saud - like Iraq, many starving, warring African nations, India/Pakistan, etc). Then, we start to clean things up, but they bitch about the way we do it.

Having a child has given me a new analogy of the US-Europe relationship. The US is the parent, while Europe is the baby that craps his diapers. Just as I have to change my child's diaper a few times a day, the US must change the diaper of the whining Europeans every now and again. With the new clean diaper, though, Europe does the same thing my child does - craps in it again. We, again, go to clean it up.

It's a cycle. Just about all of the problem spots in the world were hatched as former colonies/protectorates of some half-assed western European country.

Look at the countries Britian "freed" in the Far East, Africa, the Middle East. Ditto France, Holland, Spain, etc. They're just crappy. Europe spent the better parts of the 19th and 20th Century raping foreign lands of their natural resources. They they bailed out from 1960s to 1990s on all of them (expect the Falklands, right Margaret?).

Power vacuums were left everywhere and were filled by a mangy variety of despots. Rather than help, the European p*ssies chose not to fight and help sustain the newly "freed" countries.

Now, everyone simply bitches about the US not giving enough money to these poor downtrodden, war-torn, terrorist-infested areas. Europe, like the kid who broke a lamp when his parents were out of the house, retreats to his room and acts as though nothing happened when questioned.

In the end, Europeans are every bit the lazy, bed-wetting cowards we believe them to be.

*Caveat - when discussing "Europe" you mean, of course, the old Western Europe. The Eastern Europeans have actually shown some balls in the war on terror. I guess being less than two decades removed from despotism, they understand the stakes. Pity their half-assed, western cousins don't seem to. (Exception - Tony Blair.)

There's a really good one that is run by the professor that also runs the Defense and Strategic Studies Masters program in D.C. that a really good friend of mine graduated from. It deals mostly with security issues but there's also a lot of foreign policy thrown in there as well. I'll get the link from him later and send it to you.

Anyway, I did speak to a French exchange student about 10 years ago. She thought our states were out-dated and everything should be governed from Washington D.C. She also believed that, since we are a young nation, we are 'immature' and have 'much to learn.' What she meant by that, I have no idea. In 20 years the muslims will run the place so it won't matter. The native European wemminz just aren't breeding fast enough to keep pace with all the immigrant baby-factories.

A good way to see European attitudes towards America on the 'net is to watch alot of war footage videos from Iraq on youtube and then read the comments. I really have the impression that they want us to lose.

I don't think I ever said that. I just pointed out the irony of Eastern Europe being more pro-American than Western Europe. I also wanted to point out that Albania had a substantially different experience than the other Communist Countries. I have studied under the two people most responsible for their economic transition, and am fully aware of their impact on Albania, mostly cause one of them would shut up about it.
