I had just left Arby's in McAlester and was headed South on 69 when I saw something out of the corner of my eye.

At first it looked to be a bag or sack of somesort attached to this guy's truck. He was headed North on 69 but after first glance it was a pug or maybe a dog a little bigger and it was tied to the bed right behind the driver's door with a red leash.

It was bouncing off the pavement to about 6" below the window.

I can't believe nobody in the northbound lanes pulled him over.

I was sick at my stomach when I realized it was a dog that was bouncing off the pavement like that.

:(

That is so sad. So what? It fell out of the bed of the truck? How sad.

It very well could have fallen out and it wasn't 100% the guy's fault. Maybe just 99%.

I was headed south on HWY 69 at 40 mph and he was headed north at 40mph. There was no way I could have flagged him down. I did raise my hands to my head and yell Ohhhhh Nooooooooo but I don't think he heard or saw me.

Does anybody know what the penalty for animal cruelty is in this state? It's probably pretty stiff.

Couldn't help myself. :O

I always cringe when I see a dog on the back of a flatbed, but especially when it's on a leash for just this reason. sickening.

I see dogs along the highway all the time that I suspect either fell out of a car window or were thrown out. Makes me

I'm not a big PETA person but I have a special place in my heart for dogs and cats.

I hate seeing them dead on the road. But I've seen dead people too after getting thrown out of their vehicles in a collision, so I try and keep it in perspective.

I'm going to have bad dreams now. It doesn't help that for the past few days my dreams have been extremely vivid, random and memorable.

Thanks jackass. He had to have heard the dog bouncing off the door. It wasn't an extended cab truck.

If I wasn't in uniform, I'd have split his skull with the butt of my revolver, faster than he could say "police brutality."
