I haven't seen the show but I read something about it somewhere... I forget where. They say the hardest part is coming from the water to land without buckling the ice. See, the ice flexes out in the middle of the lakes and causes a water wavefront to travel along in front of the truck. They have to zig-zag real slow as they approach land to keep the waves from rebounding off the shore and causing the ice to break and buckle.

haven't watched the clip, but it's truckers who driver over the frozen lakes, right? There was a big article about that in reader's digest several years back.

Dad worked on the slope for a while. Heard about workers making ice roads. No working if it got above X temp. Everything needs to be solid.

I'm surprised they don't modify the tires somehow to spread the weight out a little more.

I liked it. Everyone had that nice canook accent eh? Out and about or oat in a boat?
