do you check the message boards for advice before every diagnosis?

Nope, they aren't poisonous, but, the will sting like the dickens. (That is they aren't the killer variety of poisonous...they probably have some type of venom, as in the non life-threatening type.) My granpappy used chawin' tobaccy on these types of injuries... ;)

i can attest to tobaccy working on Yellow-Jacket stings...

but basically i have heard that scorpions around here were basically on the same level as that

My little dog got stung on the nose by an Oklahoma scorpion.
He died

many years later due to some other cause, like old age.

Every time I get stung it gets worse. Must be developing an allergy.

Survivorman cuts the stinger off and lets them crawl down his throat after a couple of quick chews. Just a little protein to tide him over 'til he can catch a rat.

this was actually the innards of a cigarette, moistened with water and kinda packed on the sting(s)

when i got swarmed by a nest full of wasps as a small child my grandmother did something similar with baking soda

A few facts about scorpions that those outside of AZ may not know.

Scorpion venom is a mixture of toxins that vary from species to species and even between individuals of the same species.

Cats are immune to scorpion venom.

Scorpions fluoresce under a black light.
