At lunch today a buddy of mine came up with this idea. Stoops sticks around another ten years or so and Heuple becomes the head coach when he leaves. Discuss.

I think it would be great.

The coaching staff here obviously has a very high opinion of him as a coach.

It's hard to really evaluate him at this point in his career, though. We'll have to see how he develops as a coach.

When he was qb, He called most of the plays/audibled.

don't know if this was referencing my post, but I don't doubt his playcalling. But he has minimal experience as a coach. I'd like to see how he progresses in a few years.

How about O-Coordinator to begin with, then HC.

I would think thats something he would want to do at some point in the future.

how about we see if he can run an offense first, right now all we know is he can coach QB's, and he's only been doing that for 1-2 years. would we really want someone who has never been an O-Coord as a Head-Coach for the Top 5 college football program?

Fixed. :D

That's kinda what I was thinking...but who's to say Josh wouldn't get an O-Coordinator job offer from another school (or OU if Kevin left) and becomes successful there and then Stoops leaves in 10 or whatever years and Josh gets hired back into OU as the head coach. Wow, it's for sure still off season cause we're rambling about a whole lot of hypothetical stuff.

Josh will make himself a great coach. I don't know if it'll be at OU. But he's already gotten his reputation as a recruiter and a position coach way up there.

Well if you meant a cood. in general, then maybe next time you should put that......the goob can read.

He went into Lowell Michigan and spent all of about three hours with a high profile recruit before the kid prematurely decided (knew before visiting) he would go to OU. It was reported several times that during Nichol's "official" visit to OU, he braved the weather to hang out with Heupel and check out the football stuff.

I'd say he's okay, I don't see a whole lot of others doing that. Hope he keeps it up. :)

I have no doubt he'll do outstanding with other offense geeks. (offese geek being a compliment).

Any word on his ability to recruit other positions?
