View Full Version : O HAI. I HAS CELL PHONE QUESTION.

So, I'm investigating getting a new cell phone and I want some opinions on my leading contenders. (Prices I'm quoting are after rebates and such.)

1. The Samsung Blackjack. It does everything I'm looking for and I can get it for $75.

2. The Palm Treo 750. Also does everything I want, but costs me $200.

3. The BlackBerry 8800. No camera, otherwise has everything I want. Cost to me is $300.

4. AT&T 8525. Looks pretty sweet, cost to me is $350.

So I guess what I'm wondering is which of these is worth the price increase over the Blackjack, and which of these suck at that price?

Treo 750 for $200 seems like a steal. I like my 650, despite it being my third one this year. :eek:

The Treo is the one I'm leaning toward. I was just looking to see if anyone has any "that model sucks and breaks all the time" stories.

None like that, but I have a Blackberry Pearl and am very happy with it.

The 650 sucks and broke on me.

I can't figure my iPaq out half the time.

I'm on my 3rd Blackjack in 3 months. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone at any price.

Have you checked Wirefly.com for any deals that they might have? I upgraded to a razor v3 quite a while ago for like $18 . . . it might be worth a look to see what deals are available.

The W runs Windows Mobile, or whatever. The non-W runs Palm OS.

At $150 difference, the choice seems easy. Me, I like the Blackberry's and I never use the camera on phones after the first week anyhow.

For $200, it seems like the Treo will be the best deal. I may not get one right away, though. If I get one right now I'd have to put the phone itself on a credit card. I can wait a month or two.

I have the 750 and I love it. I also go it for like 60 bucks or some such nonsense. I like its alot.
