I think my trusty old riding mower is about to give it up. I have keep this thing going when most have would have thrown it out.

now it time to start thinking about getting a new mower.

looking at the cub cadet at home depot or the troy built at lowes.

but do i stick with a traditional mower or move to a zero turn?

Dixie Chopper.
Once you use a ZTR, you'll never want to go back.

Does a zero-turn "undocumented worker" count?

John Deere has a hybrid ZTR. It looks like a traditional but steers like a ztr.

Don't know if it's worth checking out but they generally make good stuff.

EDIT

I was wrong. It's a Cub Cadet.

ZTR is the only way to go. I've got a SCAG Wildcat, I cut 4 acres in about 3-4 hours. That's about half the time of a traditional riding mower.
