It's a lot of little reasons. Add em up and pretty soon you're talking about a lot of corpses. I got no answer.

It's funny (and yet, not) that when we refer to someone killing people out of control and we say that he's "behaving like an animal" when animals rarely or pretty much never kill for no reason. I have never heard of a tiger killing to get his rocks off.

How do you know what a tiger's real motive and intent is ???

XingTheRubicon

There weren't as many murders before guns became easily available/affordable to the common man.

I have spent countless hours pondering/researching for an answer to your question and the more I learn, the more baffling the question becomes.

Do you guys think actual murder rates have increased in the last couple hundred years or so (1800-2007) compared to the years before (1600-1800)?

I think we're just so well connected that we find out about each and every thing that happens now and it seems like it's way out of hand.

Probably by noticing the tiger devouring the flesh of his kill to fill up his empty stomach instead of tattooing a tear under his eye.

Well, if he continues to make a meal out of whatever, then, it was for his own sustenance.

Males of many species are known to kill the off-spring of rivals to get the females to come back in heat . . . I'd say that would qualify.

I do not think it is necessarily more prevelant today, begs the basic question...

Not really, that would be chalked up to survival of the fittest. I get the humor though.

animals kill all the time for more petty reasons than humans, like before mentioned they kill the young males, they kill for territory, whales play with seals before killing them, male dolphins actually will "kidnap" or dolphin nap females and gang rape them. Dogs kill things just to be killing them. My dog used to constantly drag up dead animals he killed to play with, he never ate them just killed them and drug them around.

According to what I've read, it's mostly drugs and drug related money. At least in the big cities like Philly.

I pondered this question today, as I scratched my goatee. It's the usual things: poontang, religion, jealousy, greed, etc.

I think the better question is this: "What humans need to be killed right now?" I've been busy making a list:

1. Anyone who tries to force their religion on others by the sword.
2. communists - responsible for many millions of deaths.
3. People who don't mind their own da--ed business.
4. Child molestors
5. People who drive slow in the left lane.

I don't think that statistics covers hookers.

'Cause me, VK, and Czar have just STACKS of hookers in our crawlspaces. And while I can't speak to them, I know I didn't kill my share in the name of God.
