Athens — Two more Georgia football players have been arrested for alcohol related violations.

Blake Barnes, 21, and Tripp Chandler, 20, were arrested and jailed early Sunday morning, according to the Clarke County Jail report.

Barnes, the third string quarterback, was arrested for open container violation and furnishing alcohol to minors.

Chandler, the starting tight end, was arrested for underage possession of alcohol and open container.

Barnes was released on a $2,000 bond. Chandler was released on a $1,000 bond.

According to athletics department policy both must miss at least 10 percent of the season, which in this case would be 1.2 games. In the past, Georgia coach Mark Richt has imposed suspensions at the first available opportunity. Georgia opens against Oklahoma State and South Carolina.

These latest arrests continue the trend of what has been a tumultuous offseason and year for Georgia.

Akeem Hebron, a freshman linebacker, was arrested twice last semester and removed from school. Teammate Ian Smith was also arrested twice for alcohol violations in the past year but was not removed from school. The school's alcohol policy changed after Smith's second arrest.

Internet photos of quarterback Matthew Stafford lifting an empty keg at Talladega also surfaced in May. Then Georgia lost its top player in the secondary, Paul Oliver, when he was declared academically ineligible to play in the fall.

Offensive lineman Seth Watts left the team in the fall. Offensive lineman John Miller and defensive back Antonio Sims were both removed from the team in the fall.

While the suspension of Barnes, a junior from Baldwyn, Miss., should not affect Georgia, the loss of Chandler for as much as the first two games could be a problem. Chandler, a junior from Woodstock, took the majority of snaps for the first and second tight end spot during the spring because other players were injured.

Listed behind Chandler on the preseason depth chart is Coleman Watson. Watson played in eight games last season. He was one career reception. Behind Watson is NaDerris Ward, a redshirt freshman. Ward didn't go through any contact drills in the spring and missed some of the fall because of shoulder surgery.

What's more Georgia already has three newcomers slated to start on the offensive line. So now there will be four first-time starters across the front against Oklahoma State, a team that returns seven starters on defense, none of those starters are on the defensive line.

Damn, that's what, three? 19 more in jail and OSU might win it after all! :D
