jk3 is now currently in a west point barracks room, attending their summer leadership seminar - trying to figure out if he wants to pursue a west point nomination

he's trying to learn how to make his bed with hospital corners and has had cadets yelling at him

:D

Is it that hard to get a nomination/recommendation from a senator?

i'm not sure really, we may find out here before too long - i think most senators have a process - like a board or something, to pick who they will appoint

How are they treating him since hes has served over seas? Now I have never served but I would think since he has served over seas they would not be as harsh on him. I may be wrong though.

I had a nomination from JC Watts to the AFA and one from Don Nickles to Annapolis. Call your (jk3's) Senators' nearest offices and his US Rep and the Vice President, he can nominate people too. I can't remember wo else gets to nominate folks. They should line you up with the paperwork and then he will most likely have an interview with a board the Congressmen choose.

As smart as he is and with his pops a crusty ole retired CWO and his brother currently in uniform it should be fairly easy. They will know that he really knows what he's getting himself into and is smart enough for the course load.

After he gets the nomination he will then apply (I think) and then most likely go to Tinker and take a physical fitness test. He might have to go to Ft. Sill. Then he will go to Ft. Sill to take a medical test. They go over everything, including an EKG. That damned EKG kept me out.

he can also apply for a "service connected" nomination (i.e., retired dad), but he said there were quite a few army brats there with him at the seminar so that will be just as competitive as going thru the senator or rep.......Mary Fallin is his senator, not sure who his rep is, i'm hoping the Judge in the family can help....

he can also apply for a nomination from one other source besides the VP, but i cant remember who at the moment

they've given him a ton of information on admissions - he's got some work to do when he gets back
