I park in a garage for work right now and when I leave late, there are sometimes a group of guys who ride longboards (long skateboards) down from the top, then ride the elevator back up and ride down again.

I'm really thinking about getting one. it looks like a lot of fun. would this be appropriate for a 28 year old?

no, not unless you live near a boardwalk of some sort and have a closet full of those woven hoodie/poncho things that the surfers wear.

You are getting dangerously close to the "anything that looks fun is too young for me" age. Ignore it and have fun. When you get hurt doing something that wouldn't have hurt you 5 years ago, come see me, it's how I feed my children. :D

Kinda what he said, unless they don't have jobs or their job is actually making the skateboards.

If you are Tony Hawk it is cool.

Otherwise, grow a skullet and wear ear rings well into your 60s

Ten years ago, my doctor told me not to attend the inline skating lessons that a group of us had signed up for because I was too old. Her concern was broken bones.
So I took the class & had a great time. My kids can still skate circles around me as I skate, but control and balance was my goal.
