Today is Father's Day - well for me anyway.

The Turk family will be traveling to see the rest of the Turk family this coming week. Father Turk is 77 years old, and we wanted to see him this coming weekend. This means we will not be home next weekend. So my wife gave me my father's day present today - a new cordless drill and cordless circular saw.

I am also about to cook my father's day meal - t-bone steak & crablegs.

Happy Fathers Day to the Turks. Mother Flag's b-day is the 19th so I sent a package of OU stuff to the units the other day.

btw - crablegs on the grill = teh win!

just buy frozen crablegs (we are in Oklahoma). Thaw them out and throw them on the grill for about 5-10 minutes. This heats the crab meat up and firms up the shells so they are easy to crack.

the only bad thing - I will be at the folks house during the US Open. Minimal golf watching for me. the old man doesn't like golf.

No doubt - I can't wait to spend some time with the parents. haven't seen them in 2 years. 800 mile drive through Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and S.D. is the suc though.

Twin Hills CC in OKC has/had a pretty similar logo. though, while TH CC is an old school Perry Maxwell club course....i suspect they lifted the logo from Oakmont. i played there a bunch as a kid. used to host the OKC Open along with OKC G and CC inna day. and the USGA Junior Amateur once.

I've always wanted to play Twin Hills. The closest I get is the other Perry Maxwell course across I-35.

I've always wanted to play Twin Hills. The closest I get is the other Perry Maxwell course across I-35.

front 9 is really great. though, it's so compact and with today's length and new equipment it might be pretty short and crowded. my dad says they re-did the greens there in the old Maxwell style a few years ago. some good holes on the back nine, too: 10, 12, 18 especially. some pretty average ones too.

#4 is a great "off the cliff" from elevated tee to green par 3. but, see old Perry was pretty foxy, in OK an elevated tee just brings the wind into play even more. #1 at Southern Hills is a perfect example of that.

but, you think it's sweet times.

Sounds like the par 3 at Sand Springs. I think it's about 140 yards and a 100 foot drop.

TH has been in and out of good shape since i played there as a pup--in the 80's before the Trails opened in 84 maybe. i think they have a better group of members than they've had in the recent past when it was on the slide for a decade or so. and not in very good shape, then.

they always had killer cheeseburgers though.
