i think obama has a lot of positives. his diversity could be seen as a great unifying feature. he is eloquent and a captivating speaker...both important aspects for the potus to have

a definite con is his lack of "experience"

Obama is going to be thrown into the Clinton woodchipper before its over. Those people play rough.

Also, I would again remind everyone, America has not put anyone in the WH straight from the Senate since JFK in 1960...and its indisputable that JFK's daddy fixed that one by colluding with the Daley machine in Illinois to eek out a win in that squeaker.

Governors mansions or the vice-presidency are the common route since back in the 1930's. Therefore, Richardson has the best shot statistically speaking.

Frozen Sooner

Yep. Obama would have much better luck running as Richardson's understudy. I've been calling for that ticket for the last six months. Geographical balance-southwest and upper midwest, rural state and urban state.

The Dems aren't winning the Deep South no matter what and they aren't losing the Northeast, so no point in running someone from either area.

Beyond that, Richardson just has Obama flat-out beat on qualifications.

The sad thing about Obama is that Tuba's mentality will certainly spill over into the general population.

Regardless of WHAT Obama has to say, plenty of people won't vote for him because of his name.

If you don't want to vote for Obama because of his political views, political party, etc. that's fine, but to vote for or not vote for someone because of his name seems quite racist to me.

Racist? Calling someone by their middle name is racist now? Funny, didn't seem to bother you when the left started lashing out as Bush cause he was Christian. Yet call a man by his middle name, and you get called a racists. Nice.

No, I am pretty sure Hussien won't sniff the whitehouse for many reasons other than his middle name. His socialist vision for America will sink him in a general election, and the fact that he is pro-retreat, and basically can't hold the jock-strap of Rudy, McCain, or even Mitt.

It will be fun to watch the bloodbath of the Democratic primaries. The problem facing any serious Democrat candidate is that they have to survive the guantlet of proving they hate Bush enough, they are liberal enough and they are truly commited to unilaterally pulling the troops out of Iraq immediately to satisfy the very liberal interest groups that control the Democratic Party and then turn around and convince the general electorate that everything they said in the Democratic primary campaign should be ignored.

It's pretty scary(in a funny sort of way) when Hilliary("Call me Mrs. Bill Clinton") and the junior Senator from the liberal state of Illinois are being criticized in their own party for not being liberal enough.

Compared to the current field of Democrats seeking the nomination for POTUS, Quayle would appear almost Rooseveltian in stature.

I have never seen a major political party in this country line up a bigger group of lightweight, non-qualified candidates in my life.

Quayle would never seem Rooseveltian. he was the original Neocon prop up figure head. his personal adviser was Bill Kristol. sadly for them, not even the american people were as stupid as the Bill Kristol's and the so-called future "Rove Doctrine" people thought they were. but, the latter got their last laugh in the end, didn't they?

but, some of us liked to be treated cynically as a public and enjoy specious over-identification with authority figures to give our lives meaning.

Rudy has not shot imo, he's an early front runner and little else

he might make an attractive VP nomination though
Having worked with him and knowing a lot of people that have worked with/for him, I can bet he won't accept the VP nom.
He's not a guy that likes to be told what to do and LOATHES being second banana. He's an autonomous kind of guy.
I don't get where people think that his experience is any greater than Obama's.

I voted for him in 97- couldn't in 93 as I had just moved to NYC. He was a good mayor and he MAY make a decent president - the holy absolute ruler complex may be an issue.

Dude, he was TOTALLY the Mayor of NY when 9/11 happened.

Also, throwing out the first pitch for the Yankees > throwing out the first pitch for the Cubbies. :D

Rudy gave back that large check to Saudi after the Saudi stuck his foot in his mouth.

That is about all Rudy has to go on right now. That is not much.

LOL! I worked on that! I couldn't stop staring at Trump's hair. That is kind of the funny part, Rudy is standing next to me looking like a tranny hooker and I can't keep from staring at THE HAIR.

If persuasion of the wimmens is the criteria that we are judging the candidates by, then it's Dennis Kucinich in a landslide. How that troll ever convinced her to marry him, is up there in Julia Roberts/Lyle Lovett territory.

You significantly overestimate the intelligence of the average American who has an attention span of all of about 30 minutes.....60 minutes tops.

That's why the MSM was able to define Quayle as an idiot while they skimmed over many other idiotic quotes, actions and claims by those politicians they tend to identify with.

The Democrats have put up exactly one candidate with even a shred of intelligence and charisma in the last 26+ years for the office of the POTUS.
