The operate in a rapidly changing market place, and build semi-crappy computers. I certainly won't be buying a Dell again.

They had a good run.

I like their laptops too.

The market is changing and didn't they just announce they were using a new marketing strategy in the last week or so?

I knew I heard something...

Earlier in May, Dell broke from its long-standing direct-to-customer business model with a plan to sell computers through Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the world’s largest retailer, beginning June 10. Dell also recently began selling consumer systems pre-loaded with a version of Linux, an alternative to Microsoft Corp.’s Windows operating systems.

Selling through retailers is a complete 180 degree turn in their marketing. I guess they are getting desperate.

Big daddy dell is probably getting hit hard with rising property taxes in westlake and had to make some groundlings suffer as a result.

Hasn't happened yet. Will more than likely be a phased approach. I'd be worried if I was a mid-level manager with one or two direct reports. I'm not, so can't really do anything but keep my resume update.

Personally, I wish Michael and the rest of the Sr Exec team would take pay cuts instead, but that's just crazy talk.

The company my husband used to work for actually had all of the managers take a pay cut when business got bad. The idea being that the less you make, the more important it is to you. We survived.
