One of my coworkers owns a small winery. He has his own label and logo and he sells his wine for $5/bottle here at the office.
He bought an oil painting of bottles of wine to hang in his office....so the ninnies up here decided it would be a nice surprise to take the painting and have his wine label logo painted on it while he is on vacation...someone came and picked it up yesterday.
Personally, I think it is an invasion and won't be welcomed. I mean..if he wanted his label painted on the painting, wouldn't he have taken it and had it done himself?
Not only that but they've destroyed his office. they put confetti dots all over his desk and chair and are planning to wrap everything in cellophane before he gets back.
I'm kind of mad about this and afraid to go on vacation now.

I'd agree with you..personally I wouldn't have touched anything. Photographed it and farked it maybe, but not painted over it.
Are they going to videotape his reaction when he gets back?

I've got a print of something like that at home and if some moron took it and painted on it I would be out some $. Did someone check and see if the painting was worth anything?

no...and i just heard from a different coworker that the painting was a gift from the wifey. the lady that took the painting said she saw a similar one at Gordman's so she knows it's not expensive :rolleyes:
I think buying the $20 one at Gordman's and painting the logo on that one would have been a better idea.

about 10 years ago, a coworker loved doing the shipping peanuts in your cubicle trick.
on his last day, I filled his car up with them. He was so pi$$ed off, he drove off in spite of being up to his arms in peanuts.

Man, I love getting back from a long vacation to vandalism and a trashed office. There's nothing better than getting back to a mountain of paperwork and not being able to work on it because some jackhole decided to coat my desk in plastic.

nope, they took the painting yesterday before I even knew what was going on...not only that...there's no arguing with the ninny that took it. Know. It. All.
(she's the one that keeps track of everyone's comings and goings..if you leave early or arrive late, she writes it in her little book and reports it to the bossman)

I"m not so much against the cellophaning or wrapping his chair in bubble wrap or something - the guy is pretty easy-going and laid back, but the painting...i am VERY against that.

What'd really be cool is if someone would steal one of Picasso's indian pics with all the damned orange in it and paint it crimson or put little OU stickers all over it.
If it's really a $20 painting from the ghetto store they should go buy one to replace it - just in case he doesn't think painting up his pic is cool.

does the guy plan on reading email while he is away? If so, I'd look into letting him know before he gets back.

i doubt it. he went to mexico - drove there and is staying at a family member's house out in the boonies
i REALLY don't think the painting is a $20 painting.

I wonder if you could find a picture of the poster and somebody could photoshop it to an Ebay Ad.
You could then put it up on the wall outside the guys office.
The ad should state how the litho in the EBAY ad is one of only ten made before the Famous Wine Maker passed away and how sought after they are...
Make sure the ad states they were printed in a foreign Country too...

ok...the skinny on this is that they got a duplicate of the picture from Hobby Lobby and got the logo thing done to it, and the guy liked it when he got back, and the logo looked good on the painting. She'd have taken a picture but she doesn't have wireless internet on her phone anymore.
