That's actually Kevin Federline's CD you're listening to.

I've been in a Berlioz mood lately.

But Requiem is nice. The trombone solo in Tuba Mirum is pretty standard stuff for Orchestral auditions...wouldn't surprise me if GHP hasn't played it about 80 billion times.

I concur. One of my favorite pieces to perform (vocal) as well. Dies Irea is a very powerful and recognizable movement.

I find the subtle melodies of "Dance With A Pimp" contribute to the poignancy of a such a moving piece.

Indeed. Oddly enough, that was the one that was made of lose and fail last time I went to an audition.

That sucks.

I'm trying to convince our Orchestra director to have us play Mahler 3 so I can rock the trombone solo.

But...it won't happen.

Hehehe.
I'd be able to play the solo...but the rest of the orchestra would sound like ***. ;)

This should be a pole. What's your favorite Requiem? Mozart, Brahms, Rutter...

Maurice Durufle's "Requiem" was difficult to learn, but our church choir performed it this spring. Beautiful work, it is.

The story behind it make it very sad. It's dark and very heavy and very sad.

Awesome, though.

Sad? A requiem? Surely not.

I guess I was talking more about the story behind it.

:)

It is interesting that the requiem he was writing ended up being his own.
