Last time I went from Ft. Smith to Little Rock, AR, it was nothing but construction. That was several years ago so maybe things are better, now.

so 5-6 hours if no smuggling prostitutes and moonshine?

There are never any highway patrols from OKC to Ft. Smith so just step on it!

It's around 350 miles. At 70 mph that would make it 5 hours. YMMV.

Put the cruise on 75 and you should get there in 4.5 hrs.

i just drove it on friday night. 4 1/2 -5 1/2, depending on the amount of buckshot in your shoes and the size of your bladder.

there was no construction on I40 (no troopers either).

if you're headed further east on 40, i recommend getting gas in little rock. west memphis is a dicey proposition after dark. check that, the chances of getting shot in west memphis are about 50/50. your odds go down after dark.

today's travel trivia: the most expensive gas between OKC and gump, alabama?

OKC.

one of those spur of the moment things i am trying to decide if i want to do.

i am going to be going to a festival outside lawrence, ks from the 7-10 but a friend i haven't seen in a few years just invited me to a family bbq on the 6 in little rock.

that would be a lot of steering wheel time, but it has been awhile since the last road trip.

No construction between LR and Fort Smith, but whoever says there's no troopers hasn't been through very often; I've got two tickets on I-40, one in Ozark and one in Morrilton. Plus Arkansas state troopers are doing a big "click it or ticket" thing this week, so there are twice as many out as usual. See: http://www.arkansasnews.com/archive/2007/05/15/News/342062.html

It should take you about 5 to 6 hours depending on traffic and weather.
