Hoorayzors! Jamie Fox goes yard to tie it up at 1-1 in the top of the 2nd!

That's huge for our confidence after getting pwnt yesterday at the plate.

And now we've gone deep back-to-back to take a 2-1 lead with two outs.

Much better. :D

The bats have certainly woken up today...I just hope we can keep it going against their ace if we get it to a Game 3.

let's start swinging the bats and take them out this small ball/bunting game.

nice secondary play, but tied up 2-2.

passed ball.....little things.

And once again, stranding runners comes back to bite us in the *ss as Depaul manages to not strand their runner. :(

bri
5/27/2007, 02:30 PM
f*ck. :(

3-2, bad guys. Waddler on 2nd, 2 out, bottom 3rd.

King Crimson
5/27/2007, 02:31 PM
not looking good. Home run DP, 5-2

bri
5/27/2007, 02:32 PM
Depaul follows that up with a two-run homer to left to go up 5-3. Bases clear, still two out.

I'm not crazy about our chances to advance. :(

Good thing ESPN has all these interviews lined up with DePaul people. It'd be kinda awkward if they were talking to Joe C. and Patti while the Blue Demons were kicking our *sses all over the airwaves. :(

bri

The good news: We got the leadoff runner on base.

The bad news: DePaul is bringing in their ace to shut down any chance of a comeback. :(

kinda beat you to it. i'm a big fan of the Colonial.

the softball announcer chick seems to enjoy making it sound like a player that came to OU was some crazy loony or got tricked into it by Gasso....with her little human interest notes.

Yeah, my enjoyment of most women's sports we compete in on ESPN hinges on having the sound off.

Basically, you can sum up the series with DePaul to this point thusly: Those line drives down the 3rd base line that keep barely going foul for us have been dropping in for extra base hits for them. A game of inches, indeed.

bri

Depaul plates another run on a line-drive double into the gap in right center. 6-2 bad guys, runner on second with one out, bottom of the 5th.

bri
5/27/2007, 03:17 PM
Make it 7-2. Depaul is just killing us with doubles now.

I wonder what the over/under was on when the annoucers used the Boise St. comparison?

bri
5/27/2007, 03:22 PM
well, if we'd stop losing to underdogs, then they wouldn't be able to use it. ;)

you could always switch over and watch the rangers get swept by the bosox

bri
5/27/2007, 03:27 PM
Yeah, I think I'll pass on watching Boston do good. I'm suffering enough as it is.

Middle 6, Depaul still pretty much owning us in our own park.

if it happened, i'm glad i missed it. it's terrible here in Colorado with that. if Boise can beat OU, Hawkins will do it at CU! blah blah blah.

all respect to our guys who had a great year, but my Buff friends act like they (Boise and CU together) beat a hybrid of the 56 and 74 OU teams.

I've quick-viewed over to the awesome truck race they have going in the rain in Indy...and I'm tempted to not switch back. :P

bri

Well, it's the final three outs of a terriffic season, in all likelyhood. :(

bri
5/27/2007, 03:42 PM
Ball game.

Congrats to DePaul, they were clearly the superior team in this series. :(

King Crimson
5/27/2007, 03:44 PM
oh well, Bookout won the midwest regional shot and OU the team title, i think.

How was Depaul only the 14th ranked team in the country? They made us look like fools today and yesterday.

King Crimson

they said in yesterday's coverage they lost in the semis of the Big East tournament (to Notre Dame?), but were unscored upon in their region. that Audix pitcher looked pretty tough.

Because the media thinks that softball begins and ends with the Pac 10, but the rest of the country has made huge strides the last decade. DePaul had the better pitching this weekend and that was the difference.

bri

Well, DePaul had one great pitcher and one designated hitter. ;)

Their infield was incredible, too. A sinkerball pitcher is only as good as the defense behind her, 'cause thowing a bunch of ground balls is pointless if they get though.

So true dat, and that is one of the reason's i'm not a big softball fan; a team can get buy with one outstanding pitcher, and that can cover up a lot of flaws they might otherwise have.

Yeah, it does kind of annoy me that all you need is ONE good pitcher to win in softball. At least in baseball you need an entire rotation of starters...
