I few of us here have Ancestry.com accounts and are pretty pleased with the results.

FWIW, right now, thru June 6 (D-Day,) they are making searches of the entire US military records database free to new subscribers. That is normally an add-on that costs quite a bit more.

You might want to check it out.

I wonder if my Great-Grandfather's name is misspelled in the records as like it is on his discharge. My Grandma's Navy records are probably far more interesting though.

Thanks Homey.
I stuck trying to find out info on my uncle. He was killed in the 1950's while making a carrier landing. I don't have the needed info such as SS #, military ID, or group. <sigh> I don't even know how to get a copy of the death certificate - for the Mediterrean....

I visited the website yesterday. I found my great grandfather's WWI draft registration card. Which is really cool, because my dad never got to meet him. I printed it out for him.

It's amazing all the info on that site.

the old census records are pretty cool, but there are often alot of misspellings which cause problems for accuracy
