Y'all haven't quite been in the loop, and I'm quite surprised I haven't seen more threads on it, but no less than 3 guys have already been kicked off the team this offseason.

The zero tolerance policy is in full effect for guys not named Perriloux.

IF we didn't have a true freshman and a walkon backing up FLynn, he'd probably be gone as well.

Today, all Texas fans are relieved that Perriloux didn't attend UT. As you recall, he spurned us in a very dishonest, misleading way for LSU. While he was continuing to assure the Texas staff that he was 100% committed, he was secretly calling other recruits on behalf of LSU!

Face it, it's bad karma for 5-star QB's to pick another school over Texas.
First, Bomar.
Next, Perriloux.
John Brantley, your time is coming.

Well, you have to admit the funny irony of Bomar and Peterson choosing OU over UT because they "wanted to win championships," lol. of course, Bomar'c character issues would have kept him from playing at UT. Evidently, RP is cut from the same bad cloth.

FYI, Mack has just as many championships as Stoops, plus he's beaten Tressel and Carroll. We all know how Stoops did against Carroll.

First, Adrian Peterson has more Big 12 championship rings than any player in the history of UT.

No he doesn't. Learn to count.....and if the 4-1 conference title lead hurts your feelings, then we can do a tiebreaker.

First of all, footballfanatic, your argument is only half valid. True that Mack has beaten Carroll and Tressel and Stoops has not. But Stoops has never even faced Tressel or Ohio State at Oklahoma dummy. Kinda hard to beat a team if you've never played them.

Well, at least I woke up this thread, lol.

Of course Stoops has been a successful coach. Mack is a great coach, as well. Last time I checked, he has just as many National Championships as Stoops. Lots of coaches have had incredible, once in a lifetime athletes. Some are never able to harness that player's potential. Mack Brown did.

Also, I'm not sure Stoops still deserves the 'he's an incredible game coach" moniker. Carroll outcoached him head to head, and it wasn't even close. I didn't see VY out on the field in the last RRR. In fact, Brown has outcoached him in the last two meetings, as Texas defeated OU with better play calling at key times.

Oregon outcoached him, though it was close. And Boise State put on the mother of all coaching clinics in a game that OU was lucky to be in at the end. Over the last three years, Stoops has been great against the OSU's of the world. Against the big boys in the key games, he has not acheived success, case closed.

Actually, starting with the Big 12 Conference Championship Game against kansas State, Stoops against top teams:

2003 K State--Loss
2003 LSU--Loss
2004 UT--Win
2004 USC--Loss
1005 TCU Loss
2005 UT--Loss
2005 Oregon WIn

Tcu not a top team, it was a big upset and oregon finished 6-6 so it was not really a good team anyways.
The guy is 86-19 in his career:
79-14 if you take away his first season with a 4-1 mark in conf titles, has been to 5 bcs games in 7 years, 3 natl title games in 7 years, and has a 25-10 mark against top 25 teams...so go on about Stoops not being a top guy anymore?

I may be insane to say this but I don't think Stoops was outcoached by Carroll in the USC NC game. It was just one of those nights, call it 'position of the planets, biorhythms, etc.", where USC could do nothing wrong and OU nothing right.

Same for Oregon. All good and great teams have close games in a season.
OU was cheated in that one.

The trick plays by Boise State inexplicably worked that night. The hook and ladder or lateral play......even the players said hardly ever worked in practice.
It's just one of those things.

I don't think there have been many times ever where Stoops has been outcoached.

Now, being the LSU suckup I am I would like to state that Saban did have a feeling OU would be over aggressive on defense in the Sugar Bowl and he did try and play against that. However, adjustments are made DURING games to compensate. Again, I make this statement being the 'homer' that I am.

Believe me, I'd be happy eight days a week to have Stoops as a head coach.

Well, if nothing else, you get points for stating an opinion that is different from the general consensus. SC completely shut down the OU attack, and moved at will on your D. Yes, of course, physical play has a huge factor in this, but most viewers of that game will tell you that SC had a great gameplan, and made great adjustments at halftime to keep up the rout.

The Oregon went back and forth, but Oregon moved the ball very well on your D. I call this one even.

Boise State completely outfoxed OU to build up a huge lead. Those gadget plays completely befuddled the hapless OU defenders to the point where on the final two-point conversion, the defense literally had no idea where the ball was. That game is a textbook for how a physcially outmanned team can win a game against a superior opponent. By any definition, Stoops was outcoached.

How the **** does anyone know that a coach was outcoached? Unless you were in the meetings or on the sidelines listening to what he was telling his players, you cannot say for certain that anyone was outcoached. He may have told whoever the weakside backer was on the SOL play to stay at home and wait on the knitter to come prancing your way but the guy didn't execute. The point is, nobody knows.

Sure, you can get a general idea for who a good coach is by looking at the W-L record, but it doesn't tell the whole story. Sometimes 19-year-olds aren't ****ing robots and don't do exactly what they're told. Coaches put players in a position to execute. If they execute, the coach is a genius; if not, the coach got "outcoached".

It's complete bull****.

There's this thing called players executing the plays that footballfanatic seems to be unfamiliar with. The coach can't get out there and make PT not turn the ball over so many times in the Fiesta Bowl.

The last paragraph makes no sense at all. Did you even watch the game?

That fluke TD before the half was very clever indeed. And imagine the coaching prowess that caused PT to make a bad decision and have the ball tipped and returned for a score in the 3rd quarter.

The fact of the matter is if Walker steps out of bounds on that last pick instead of taking it to the house, we win by a field goal with no time left on the clock.

BTW, nice finish in conference play last year.

Urban Meyer was severely outcoached by a struggling Auburn team last year. Maybe he and Bob Stoops can open up gas station together.

Every D1 coach has games where they look like a horses a**. Carroll, Tressel, Switzer, Bowden, Osborne, etc have all been embarrassingly outcoached.....more than a few times......

and don't forget Switzer's little pet b*tch, DKR.

I guess what everyone has been trying to say is that CFB coaches have ups and downs. All of them do....geniuses then a goat, sometimes in the same game. So all you can really do is evaluate their entire body of work. Stoops is being pursued by every D1 coach on planet Earth for wins this decade, maybe we can wait 'til someone catches him. We'll keep you posted.

The most telling part, is a UT fan focusing on last year. Down the stretch, during the championship drive, OU, with our back-up backfield, won @ Mizzou, @A&M, and @OSU. Meanwhile, Texas folded like a whore that was punched in the solar plexes by a guy with sores on his face.

A coach gets all the credit for having a great gameplan. He gets all the accolades for making the crucial half-time adjustments. He also has to take the blame when his team is hopelessly outpositioned and exposed.

When BSU confused the Sooner defenders (and I mean confused--on that last 2-point conversion, not one Sooner even reacted to the eventual ballcarrier) or ran the the hook and lateral play, a coach has to take responsiblity for the defense not being positioned correctly to handle misdirection plays. It's the price of leadership.

you're such a *********, and I have no clue where to even start with you....so i guess ill just start with this basic questions

have you EVER donned a jock?
have you EVER donned a jock somewhere other than on top of your head?

have you ever played football?

have you ever played outside linebacker?

have you ever played in a high pressured situation like a bcs game? (doubt it. your favorite team has only made 2 bcs games themselves)

if all of these are true, then you should KNOW FOR A FACT that the linebacker has a resposibility to the run first and THEN a zone in pass coverage. how do you know he wasn't told where to be? more times than not, linebackers are the most out of position players on the field. it comes with the territory. they support the run in thier gap first. then they have to support the run in general and then the pass in the specific areas of the field.

he (as well as 3 others) reacted to where the ball was. noone had a clue that the receiver that was running behind was going to get a lateral. for all they knew he was going to attempt a block. hind sight is 20/20 you turd tickler. anyone can say "by gawd, he shoult have seen that play comin a mile off"

i think you should take a few days off.....anyone else for a small vacation for weenie boy?

You threw out an acheived in your first post, but I let it slide due to the sophomoric sadness of the rest of your post.

Now you have literally nothing to add.

Dumbest thing this kid did is bolt the whorns for LSU. Not only would he have started last year, but he would have gotten his 5-year "get out of jail free" card from Mack and avoided all this bad pub. Never thought Lester would take a high road compared to Roscoe Brown.
