Pleurisy

Yesterday I woke up several times during the night with chest pain. It wasn't any better when I got up for work. I went to work, and it only got worse. I had sharp pain on the left side of my chest, under my left shoulder blade, and even down into my left arm, also had trouble breathing. With my family history of heart probs (3 of 4 grandparents with heart conditions, one of those died of a heart attack) I went to the ER to get it checked out. They did TONS of blood work (I have a nice bruise now) and several chest x-rays and finally said it was pleurisy. They told me to take 800 mg of IBUprofin every 6 hours and rest. I went home and slept 4 hours, then got 11 hours of sleep last night. I came into work late today, still hurting and feeling very tired. I guess since it hurts when I breathe deeply, I’m not getting enough oxygen at night and end up not feeling rested. Anyway, I was glad I got it checked out. There’s really nothing to do except let it heal, but I can put up with the pain now that I know it’s not serious.

it is a sharp pain all the way thru, like I was stabbed

much worse when I take a deep breath.

My wife has had it a couple of times. The second time she got it she knew what is was but went to the doctor to get a prescription for it. First thing the doctor told her "doesn't sound like pleurisy"...then after about 1-1 1/2 hours he reaches a diagnoses...pleurisy. :mad:

But, like I said, she has had it twice (both times over the last year) and it is definitely teh succ...
