For those of you having malware issues... Ghost in the browser (http://www.usenix.org/events/hotbots07/tech/full_papers/provos/provos.pdf) is a great read from some of the top researchers at Google on how spyware, viruses and pop-ups can infect your machine and give hackers and unscrupulous types access to your files and other info you really don't want them to have.

I know this may be a bit technical and boring for most of you but if you are like me and live by the "know your enemy" motto then this will teach you what to look for and help in avoiding this common problem.

I am wondering what some of you are doing to prevent/remove these types of infections on your pc's? What has worked best for you and what has been a waste of time and money?

This has been a public service announcement. :)
